If you think this summer is going to be full of violence, or if a city you live in has already been wracked with record levels of violent crime, you’re just giving in to “hysteria“. At least, that’s what Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says. The ex-waitress turned superstar socialist touted that she still supports defunding the police and that it’s actually the media that’s making people worried about violence, not violent criminals. This is the stuff of Orwell’s nightmares.
Breitbart News Reports: “We are seeing these headlines about percentage increases,” she explained about a recent New York Times headline about surging crime: “Now, I want to say that any amount of harm is unacceptable and too much. But I also want to make sure that this hysteria, you know, that this doesn’t drive a hysteria and that we look at these numbers in context so that we can make responsible decisions about what to allocate in that context.

Ocasio-Cortez continued to say the establishment media is perpetuating “this idea of crime” surging throughout America.
“I agree with Representative Bowman, that I do believe that we need to reallocate resources away and that a big, you know, major causes of this — and by the way, I also think it’s important context because we hear on the news and media, they perpetuate this idea of crime wave, crime wave, crime wave, right?” she continued. “And so this idea that a lot of us are panicked thinking that we are at some unprecedented level that we’ve never seen before.”

This is coming from the same AOC who had to be whisked away from a building next to the Capitol on January 6th and tearfully told the public about her need for therapy afterwards. The protestors of that event were unarmed and the only person murdered was Ashli Babbitt who was shot by a still unnamed security officer. Previous reports of police officer Brian Sicknick being bludgeoned to death with a fire extinguisher by protestors turned out to be a complete fabrication.
While AOC’s tearful press conferences and Twitter videos which she recorded for her fans might make it seem like she cares a lot about law-and-order, the opposite is the case. She has been the Congressional voice of not only the “defund the police” movement but the even more radical “abolish the police” messaging.
Breitbart continues: “We reported June 23 that homicides have increased 58 percent in Democrat-run Atlanta, 533 percent in Democrat-run Portland, and 37 percent in Democrat-run Philadelphia. Shooting are up 54 percent in Democrat-run New York City, 51 percent in Democrat-run Los Angeles, and 18 percent in Democrat-run Chicago.”
Now we don’t entertain any illusions that AOC reads Breitbart, or FBI crime statistics, or possibly anything at all. However, one would imagine that a Congressional superstar like her would have advisors that could do that kind of research for her. Which means that there’s only two possible explanations: Either she knows as much about crime and law enforcement as she does about Economics (though she supposedly holds a degree in the subject despite maintaining her ardent socialism). Or she knows full well that violence is on the rise and she is willing to trade the safety and security of American citizens for her celebrity status as the Democrats little Communist sweetheart. I think we all know which of these is more likely.
