Echoing Hillary’s infamous “deplorables” statement, Bette Midler recently launched a disgustingly denigrating attack on West Virginians because Manchin refused to back the Build Back Better bill.
Taking to Twitter after his announcement that he would not be supporting the leftist bill, Middler said:
“What #JoeManchin, who represents a population smaller than Brooklyn, has done to the rest of America, who wants to move forward, not backward, like his state, is horrible. He sold us out. He wants us all to be just like his state, West Virginia. Poor, illiterate and strung out.”
It’s to be assumed, at this point, that the left will viciously attack anyone that doesn’t go along with Brandon’s agenda.
But, as you can read, Midler went beyond that, attacking not just Manchin but all of West Virginia, falsely and horrifyingly claiming that all West Virginians are “poor, illiterate and strung out.”
About an hour later, Midler followed up her vicious tweet with a partial apology, saying:
“I apologize to the good people of WVA for my last outburst. I’m just seeing red; #JoeManchin and his whole family are a criminal enterprise. Is he really the best WV has to offer its own citizens? Surely there’s someone there who has the state’s interests at heart, not his own!”
But she then followed that half-apology/half-attack on Manchin with yet another attack, denigrating Manchin as someone “without a shred of conscience.”
Despite her faux apology, Midler was quickly condemned for her viciously bigoted statement.
Donald Trump Jr., for example, attacked her on Twitter and said “This is exactly what they think of good hardworking Americans that live outside of their elite bulls–t NY/LA bubbles. They hate that a Democrat would actually represent his constituents rather than follow blindly the insane and radical plans of lunatic DC Dems!”
What Midler thought she’d accomplish by attacking Manchin’s home state is unclear. Manchin, describing why he didn’t back down to Team Brandon, said “I’m from West Virginia. I’m not from where they’re from, [where] they can just beat the living crap out of people and think they’ll be submissive.” Based on the content of her statement, it’s likely that feeling will only increase in intensity now that she’s derided all of his constituents as “poor, illiterate, and strung out.”
