While Republicans often label Democrats “communists” or “socialists,” it’s rare that those representatives and senators self-identify as such, or show up at commie events.
Well, Senator Blumenthal decided to join the likes of Senator Sanders and openly join up with the American communists.
That’s right, according to The Drill Down, Connecticut Senator Blumenthal (D, of course) “accepted an invitation to speak at an awards ceremony for Communist Party affiliate the Connecticut People’s World Committee; they were celebrating the 102nd anniversary of the Communist Party USA and actively recruiting new CPUSA members.”

And, far from being an unwitting member of a radical event, Senator Blumenthal told the crowd that he was “really excited and honored to be with you today and share in this remarkable occasion.”
Nor did his praise of communism, an ideology that killed about 100 million people in the 20th century, end with his praise of the event.
He went on to hand out award certificates to three activists of various stripes being recognized by the commies that arranged the ceremony, then praised the ceremony itself, saying he was excited to honor “the great tradition of activism and standing up for individual workers that is represented by the three honorees.”
Still, always the opportunist, he didn’t just praise the murderous ideology and its deluded modern adherents, lending credibility to the radical ceremony.
He also took the opportunity to try to rally support for Brandon’s Build Back Better bill, apparently thinking the commie recruiting event was fertile ground for finding support for what some call a socialist-style spending bill.
When praising the bill and trying to rally support for it, Blumenthal said “There’s a lot to be working for in economic justice, in racial equity, in establishing a $15 minimum wage, and holding corporations accountable for the basic treatment of the American people. We need to look at our entire tax system, beginning with Build Back Better.”
It’s no surprise that a Democrat senator was dumb enough or radical enough to show up to a commie recruiting event, but it is surprising that his aides let him do so. We’ll see how the commie senator from Connecticut tries to downplay this one in coming days.
