Congressman Dan Crenshaw has been having trouble maintaining his conservative credentials recently.
First, it came out that he supports red flag laws. Though he insists he supports a different version of them than what the left has in mind, many are still concerned that he supports any version of them, as there are worries they could eventually be used to remove firearms from the hands of “thought criminals” rather than just the dangerously insane.
Then he voted to fund a bill that provides funding for state immunization information programs.
Though he insists that he voted for it as part of some plan to protect people from the leftist version of vaccine databases, the Citizen Free Press reports that the bill “would provide $400 million in taxpayer dollars to fund “immunization system data modernization and expansion,” a system otherwise defined as “a confidential, population-based, computerized database that records immunization doses administered by any health care provider to persons within the geographic area covered by that database.”’
Crenshaw was one of 80 House Republicans that voted for the bill.
Most recently, Crenshaw has turned on the most conservative members of his own party, calling them “grifters.”
Wowie! Dan Crenshaw trashes ‘Freedom Caucus’ members Greene, Brooks, Gohmert, Gosar, Jordan, etc, as “performance artists” while defending Kinzinger. “We have grifters in our midst .. lie after lie after lie.” 🍿 pic.twitter.com/hoaGOcOx9s

As you can hear in the video, he says, while speaking at aTexas Liberty Alliance PAC event in Houston, Crenshaw says:
” [the conservative movement has] grifters in our midst, not here, not in this room. I mean the conservative movement.
Lie after lie after lie, because they know something psychologically about the conservative heart – we’re worried about what people are going to do to us, what they’re going to infringe upon us, that’s the nature of conservatism”
He then clarifies that his comments were directed toward “everybody in the Freedom Caucus – all of them.”
The Freedom Caucus, formed in 2015 by more conservative members of the GOP that were frustrated by weak-kneed Republican “leadership,” is currently composed of conservative firebrands like Majorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, and Matt Gaetz, among others.
All of them are staunch conservatives that stand by the values their constituents elected them to defend. None of them voted for vaccine databases, nor do they call for red flag laws.
Perhaps, if Rep. Crenshaw wants to discover who the “grifters” are, he should look in the mirror and at the Conservative, Inc. Republicans he’s so chummy with, the types of D.C. gadflys that promise to stand for conservative values only to back down time and time again.
