You’d think that former constituent parts of the Third Reich would be at least somewhat hesitant to act tyrannically, but you’d be wrong. In Austria, the government might start imprisoning people for a year if they refuse to get the Covid jab.
That’s according to Summit News, which has a terrifying report on what’s going on in Austria. The article reports that:
Susanne Fürst of the Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ), which voted against the amendment, warned that it could be used to punish the unjabbed with much harsher sentences.
The amendment raises fines from €726 (£617/$818) to €2,000 (£1,701/$2,255) and increases prison time for those who refuse to pay from four weeks to up to a year.
Given that Austrians who don’t get vaccinated by February face fines of up to €7,200 ($8,000) for non-compliance, those who refuse to pay would also face a 12 month jail sentence.
Oh, and it’s not like the government will handle the cost of locking up political prisoners for refusing the jab. No, the prisoners will be on the hook for the costs of being political prisoners. The amendment itself states:
“If detention is carried out by the courts, the associated costs shall be recovered by the courts from the obligated party in accordance with the provisions existing for the recovery of the costs of enforcing judicial penalties”
Those insanely restrictive rules will apply to everyone of the age of 14, except for pregnant women, who are heavily encouraged to get the jab but will not be legally mandated to do so. Details on them, according to RT, come from “a leaked draft of the so-called Covid-19 Vaccination Protection Act seen by the Austrian Die Presse daily.”
RT adds that while those restrictions are in the text of the bill for now, they could change:
The text of the bill, which will be discussed at the chancellor’s office on Tuesday, might still change, the Austrian media notes. If passed, the legislation is reportedly expected to stay in force for at least three years.
So, if you’re an Austrian that refuses to receive a vaccine, you’ll be locked up for a month, forced to pay a massive fine, and forced to pay the costs of your imprisonment.
If anything, this latest example of the Covid tyrants abusing their power just proves the CS Lewis quotation about how the worst tyrannies are instituted in the name of their victims all the more true.
