In what will surely be remembered as an event as terrible as the smallpox epidemic that swept the Native American population when the first settlers arrived, it was recently reported that Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren tested positive for Covid.

News on that negative test came from Pocahontas herself, who, on Sunday, tweeted “I regularly test for COVID & while I tested negative earlier this week, today I tested positive with a breakthrough case. Thankfully, I am only experiencing mild symptoms & am grateful for the protection provided against serious illness that comes from being vaccinated & boosted.”

Still, despite her positive diagnosis, Pocahontas called on Americans to get yet another jab, saying:

As cases increase across the country, I urge everyone who has not already done so to get the vaccine and the booster as soon as possible – together, we can save lives

According to Fox, which reported on the diagnosis:

Warren’s announcement comes as cases of COVID-19 have started to rise again throughout much of the country, with health officials worrying that the emergence of the Omicron variant could continue to make the situation more dire.

Thankfully for Senator Pocahontas, Covid is nowhere near as deadly for those infected by it as smallpox and other European diseases were for the Native Americans infected by them during the early years of colonization.
