Clinton (the wife, not the alleged pedo), has been back in the news recently.
Whether she’s attacking the idea of voter fraud after spending the four years after 2016 claiming that her election was rigged or saying that she’ll “never be out of the game of politics,” Hillary has been trying to insert herself back into the news cycle.
Most recently, she got teary-eyed while reading a speech she had prepared for a 2016 victory, a speech she obviously never got to read for real, and also claimed that if Trump runs again it would be “the end of our democracy.” It’s an absurd contention, as America is a republic, not a democracy, but shows how hard she’s hawking herself and desperately trying to be relevant again.
So, why’s she trying to get back in the news cycle? Well, there’s some speculation that she’s trying to get famous again in preparation for a 2024 run.
Bill O’Reilly, for example, appearing on YourNation, had this to say about Hillary’s 2024 ambitions:
“Hillary Clinton wants the nomination. She knows the Biden administration is falling apart, which is why you’re seeing her surface right now”
That’s assuming Hillary is enough of a political shark to smell the blood in the water, which might be a bit bold considering her many 2016 missteps. Could the woman that didn’t campaign in battleground states and instead spent time in California really be smart enough to realize that she has a chance again thanks to Brandon?
O’Reilly seems to believe so, as does the Daily Wire, which recently noted that “Clinton’s continued presence on the stage — liberal networks continue to put her on the air nearly every weekend — signals to some that she’s setting up a run.”
So does Joe Concha, who wrote on The Hill that:
2016 Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton is an interesting prospect to consider when looking for a viable candidate, particularly if an 80-something President Biden decides not to seek a second term. And why would he? Just 22 percent of voters want him to seek a second term, according to a I&I-TIPP poll. It doesn’t get much better when polling only Democrats, where just 36 percent want to see the president run again, with that juggernaut candidate named “someone else” coming in first with 44 percent support.
Concha goes on to note the many, many shortcomings of the current crop of Democrat aspirants, notably Mayor Pete and Cackling Kamala, before reaching this conclusion:
If those are the options, why not Hillary? She’s 74 years old, which is like being bathed in the fountain of youth compared to Biden. And she’s still stunned — five years later — that she actually lost to Donald Trump. In fact, she sounds no different than Trump in constantly complaining about all the reasons she lost and that, well, the election was stolen by Trump and the Russians anyway. That type of rhetoric is a big no-no for Trump, but A-OK if Hillary (or Stacey Abrams) does it. Rules are rules.
Sad as it might be, Concha has a point. The Democrats are so off-kilter now that Hillary can somehow be favorably compared to the others that might run, which is really saying something.
We’ll have to wait and see, but, for now, it’s looking like Trump vs. Hillary round II could very well be on the horizon.
