One of President Trump’s greatest and most important accomplishments was his pushing through the Section 301 tariff scheme, which imposed billions of dollars of tariffs on goods coming from Red China.
After decades of elite insouciance toward China, the Section 301 tariffs breathed a new life into American industry, bringing back jobs and investment that otherwise would have been shipped overseas to the new Evil Empire, Red China.
Well, the elites didn’t like that. Not one bit. Though the tariffs were great for the American worker, bringing as they did a manufacturing revival and putting a hurting on the Chinese state, they also dented the profit margins of those massive corporate behemoths that sent so many jobs and factories to China in the first place.
So, with President Trump out of office, those elites are using their lackeys in Congress to push Brandon’s U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai to allow more Chinese goods in with an exemption that means no tariff on them has to be paid.
In fact, according to a Breitbart report from December of 2021, “Reps. Darin LaHood (R-IL), Jackie Walorski (R-IN), Ron Kind (D-WI), and Rep. Suzan DelBene (D-WA) are requesting that Tai expand the administration’s “targeted tariff exclusion process” to include more manufacturers who make their products in China.”
As a result, Tai started reviewing over 500 goods, seeing where the tariff could be lifted so that those corporate monstrosities could once again expand their profit margins and the CCP’s coffers at the cost of the American worker.
Well, according to a new Breitbart report, those corporatist RINO’s and pro-China, pro-corporation Democrats got their wish; they got almost 150 legislators to sign onto their call for lifting the tariffs.
As Breitbart reports, “The letter, now signed by 140 House Republicans and Democrats, includes the signatures of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) as well as Reps. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA), Burgess Owens (R-UT), Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY), Ken Buck (R-CO), Young Kim (R-CA), and Anthony Gonzalez (R-OH), among others.”
And why might they be doing so? Well, as Breitbart reports, a lobbying group that imports many goods from Red China is funding many of the legislators pushing for Tai to start lifting the tariffs:
The American Apparel & Footwear Association (AAFA) is backing the lobbying effort as some of the largest clothing producers, like Calvin Klein, Macy’s, Ralph Lauren, and Reebok, produce their products in China.
The AAFA’s political action committee (PAC) has already donated $2,500 to Kind this election cycle, as well as $1,000 to Rep. Jimmy Panetta (D-CA), who also signed the letter.
In the 2020 elections, the AAFA’s PAC gave $3,500 to Rep. Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), $2,500 to Rep. Brett Guthrie (R-KY), $2,000 to Rep. Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR), $1,000 to Henry Cuellar (D-TX), and $1,000 to Adrian Smith (R-NE) — all of whom signed the letter.
In the letter, they effectively make the patently false claim that the tariffs have raised prices for American workers and claim that letting Red China flood the US market with more low-cost goods subsidized by the CCP will somehow help Americans.
Their arguments are absurd and obviously based on the cash from lobbyists representing massive corporations, not a concern for the average American. Now we’ll see if Brandon sides with Red Chinese workers or American workers.
