“Facing Extinction”: Democrat Has Dire Midterms Warning

Outgoing Democratic Rep. Jim Cooper (D-TN) must be the one Democrat left with a brain; he, in an interview with a local paper, The Nashville Scene, perfectly described the Democrat problem and went on to give a dire warning for his party, especially in ruby-red states like Tennessee.

He began his warning when asked about redistricting, with the reporter seemingly wanting him to say that Democrats in New York and other states should work hard to redistrict in a biased way and balance out “gerrymandering” in red states. He refused to do so and gave a warning instead, saying:

“As usual, Democrats are not alert to future dangers. The biggest danger we face in an off-year election after we won the White House is the 100-year trend toward the other party. Redistricting is small potatoes compared to that historical trend.

Our party needs to improve its management capabilities. We do not anticipate and organize and plan.”

Following up on that he added that Democrats have no strategy to change the minds of voters, saying “Remind me what the strategy is to change the minds of rural voters.”

Returning to that later in the interview, Cooper went so far as to say that the Democrats’ lack of strategy could lead to their “extinction” in Tennessee, saying:

What Tennessee Democrats need is a strategy to win. We’re addicted to telling other people what to think. You can’t really win many elections if you’re that self-righteous.

It’s important to be in communication with your constituents, not to be their boss. You’re their representative. We’ve got to get this formula right. The Democratic Party in Tennessee is basically facing extinction. We’ve been on a long downhill slide for a long time. Tennessee has fewer statewide elected offices than I think any other state, and now the only path upward will be through Memphis, which is not nearly as successful as Nashville. That fits Republican strategy very well. Their intent is to ghettoize the state Democratic Party.

Cooper is right: though Americans might not be as far-right or far-left as many say, they’re not willing to vote for people that hate them.

The rural voters that Democrats need if they’re to be a party of anything other than run-down cities can see that the far-leftists currently running for seats in Congress as Democrats, those likes of AOC and Rashida Tlaib rather than Jim Cooper, hate them with a burning passion.

The result is looking more and more like a red wave, both at the state and federal levels. Voters, tired of inflation, disgrace abroad, economic woes, and having to listen that Democrats that hate them screech about how terrible America is aren’t going to just sit idly by any longer.

Instead, they’re going to rise up and vote, tossing those that hate them out of office in that “extinction” even that Cooper is trying to warn his fellow Democrats about.
