What does the ATF do? It attacks your 2nd Amendment rights, shoots your dogs, and burns down your compound with kids still inside it. Or, at least, that’s how it lives in the public’s consciousness after the Waco disaster of the 90s and continuous scandals and ridiculous rulings since then. From bump stocks to David Koresh, it’s made a number of bad calls.
Continuing that trend, it posted a Stalinist-sounding tweet on Valentine’s Day, saying:
Valentine’s Day can still be fun even if you broke up. Do you have information about a former (or current) partner involved in illegal gun activity? Let us know, and we will make sure it’s a Valentine’s Day to remember! Call 1-888-ATF-TIPS or email [email protected].

Yes, it really posted that. Some ATF apparatchik though Valentine’s Day would be a good time to go ahead and post a message that you should snitch on your loved ones exercising their 2nd Amendment rights. Or, as someone put it on Twitter, perhaps they were just offering to shoot your ex’s dog for you:
Pretty genius. 7D chess

But, surprisingly, the ATF’s ridiculous post wasn’t the only thing that received a maelstrom of online hate, even though it was the precipitating tweet.
In fact, Hunter Biden got dragged into it based on a story about a pistol and his ex. As ZeroHedge described it, “The tweet immediately backfired as countless people provided a tip to the ATF of “Robert Hunter Biden,” the president’s son, who lied on ATF Form 4473, also known as a Firearms Transaction Record, about concealing his history of illegal drug use during a firearms purchase in 2018.”
For reference, the story referenced, reported on by the Machine Gun Nest, is that Hunter bought a gun in 2018 that his lover tossed in a garbage can and a scavenger found. Yes, really. Then the Secret Service tried bullying a gun shop owner into hiding details of the purchase. Oh, and Hunter lied about his drug use on the form, as he was smoking crack at the time and didn’t indicate that.
“Hunter Biden purchased a .38 Revolver from a Delaware gun shop on October 12, 2018…
Days later, on October 23, Hallie Biden (widow to Joe Biden’s son Beau) searched Hunter’s truck and found the handgun. She apparently feared for Hunter’s safety and decided to put the gun in a shopping bag and throw it in the trash outside a grocery store. During the same day, Hunter finds out about the gun disposal and notifies law enforcement of the missing firearm. The investigation that followed involved the Delaware State Police, Secret Service, the FBI, and later on, the ATF.
Eventually, the revolver was found, turned into authorities by a man who routinely searched garbage cans in the area for recyclables. Interestingly according to a report from Politico, the Secret Service visited the gun shop where Hunter had purchased the firearm and asked to take the 4473 associated with the gun. The shop owner wisely refused this request…”
Not exactly the pinnacle of gun safety, or even reasonable behavior.
So, Hunter got absolutely skewered on social media, with disgruntled Americans using the ridiculous ATF tweet as an opportunity to start slamming the president’s crackhead son:
💔 His name is Hunter Biden.
🚔 Tell him “Adam says hello, you broke his heart” 💔 https://t.co/Bx7htoSecT

He’s not a former or current partner, but here’s a tip regarding an illegal gun purchase.
