GOP Rep. Mike Waltz is one of the strongest China hawks in the House. Whereas many of his fellow members have gotten rich off of Red China, he’s called it out consistently and seems to be one of the few who takes the new Red Menace seriously. Perhaps it’s because he’s a former Green Beret or perhaps he just has his head screwed on straight, but, either way he’s got his mind right on the China problem.
As such, he tried running an anti-China ad for his campaign during the Olympics. Called “Genocide Games,” it skewers the Olympic Committee for allowing an abjectly evil nation like China to host the games and attacks those companies like Visa, Coca-Cola, Nike, Intel, Procter & Gamble that profit off their relationship with the communist nation.
It also includes Enes Kanter Freedom, the anti-China NBA star, and includes Rep. Waltz telling Americans that “When you see made in China, put it down.”
All in all, the 30-second ad brings to light China’s crimes against humanity and slams those that work with it.
Problem is, NBC refused to run the anti-China ad, siding with Red China over a former Green Beret. As the New York Post reports:
NBC on Friday killed the ad, which was to air in Washington, DC, this coming Monday night during Olympic coverage.
“NBC will not run our ad unless we remove the corporate logos of companies,” Waltz spokesman James Hewitt told The Post, adding they refuse to alter the 30-second spot.
NBC and Hewitt went back and forth over the reason why NBC wouldn’t run the anti-China ad, with the Post quoting each as saying:
“The ad was not rejected. Per NBCUniversal’s long-standing advertising guidelines, changes to the ad were requested so it could air,” a network spokesman said.
“It defeats a major purpose of the ad: to highlight US sponsors’ culpability with China’s human rights abuses,” said Hewitt. “The point of the ad was to target Olympic audiences in DC.”
But while NBC is seemingly trying to cover up what Red China is up to and apparently attempting to keep hidden the fact that many American corporations profit off their relationships with the communist slave drivers, Rep. Waltz hasn’t been shut up.
Rather, the Florida representative is continuing to speak out about the Chinese, telling the New York Post that “This is the equivalent of holding the Olympics in Germany in the 1940s or Rwanda during their atrocities. It is beyond the pale that the [International Olympic Committee] didn’t move the games.”
He also attacked those companies highlighted in the ad, saying “I think the companies supporting it should be absolutely ashamed. Many of them preach social justice and contribute millions of dollars to social justice causes and yet are turning a blind eye to the genocide going on. Many of them are complicit with their own supply chains.”
Waltz is right; those companies that profit off genocide are reprehensible and need to be held to account. It’s shameful that NBC is covering for them.
