Remember when the Biden regime’s FBI went on the warpath against anti-CRT parents, releasing a memo that highlighted supposed threats to teachers, administrators, etc. coming from parents furious that their children were being indoctrinated with an anti-American ideology?
As a reminder, that memo was a response to a letter from the NSBA (National School Board Association), a letter that essentially equated protesting parents to domestic terrorists.
Well, according to Fox Digital, a number of red states remember the FBI doing that and remember Garland’s refusal to recant; now they’re fighting back by suing Biden.
Those states are Indiana, Arkansas, Arizona, Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Montana, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, and Utah.
They are, according to Fox, engaging in a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit, seeking information on the FBI’s investigation of parents involved in anti-CRT protests. In Fox’s words:
Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita, a former member of Congress, has taken the lead in the lawsuit against President Biden, Attorney General Merrick Garland and Education Secretary Miguel Cardona, citing a failure of U.S. officials to honor FOIA requests.
The Indiana attorney general previously demanded all communications and records relating to the FBI’s decision to investigate violent threats against local education officials.
“We just want the facts,” Rokita told Fox News Digital. “Rather than cooperate, the Biden administration has sought to conceal and downplay its culpability. What are they hiding? Why won’t they come clean? Hoosiers and all Americans deserve to know.”
Further, the lawsuit does a reasonably good job of summarizing what conservatives contend happened with the FBI, NSBA, and flurry of letters depicting concerned parents as something akin to domestic terrorists. It reads:
“Attorney General Garland testified in Congress that his Memorandum was based on a now debunked and rescinded letter drafted by individuals in the Federal Government (EOP, ED, and DOJ) working with the National School Boards Association (‘NSBA’) dated September 29, 2021.
This letter, from the NSBA to President Biden, called on him to invoke ‘the PATRIOT Act in regards to domestic terrorism,’ arguing that as ‘acts of malice, violence and threats against public school officials have increased, the classification of these heinous actions could be the equivalent to a form of domestic terrorism and hate crimes.‘”
Townhall, reporting on the letter, adds that “Emails obtained in November by Parents Defending Education found that the NSBA was in communication with the White House and the Department of Justice for several weeks prior to its Sept. 29 letter.”
What remains to be seen is what, if anything, this lawsuit will lead to. Though the basic idea of suing under a FOIA lawsuit to seek clarity is a good one from an information perspective, it’s unclear what the next step would be or if a more definitive legal win could be expected after the information the states are seeking is released.
Still, if the information they think is there (someone in Team Biden soliciting the the NSBA letter), it might, at the very least, be yet another political black eye for Brandon’s disaster of an administration.
