During a press conference earlier this week, President Joe Biden was laughed at by the media after he tried talking tough against Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Biden reportedly had a call with Putin where he confronted him on the ransomware attacks.
American Military News reports: “According to a White House readout of the call, Biden confronted Putin about the attacks and “underscored the need for Russia to take action to disrupt ransomware groups operating in Russia and emphasized that he is committed to continued engagement on the broader threat posed by ransomware.””
According to the report, Biden also told the Russian president that “the United States will take any necessary action to defend its people and its critical infrastructure in the face of this continuing challenge.”
It appears that not even the media is taking Biden seriously. During a press conference, Biden was asked about his phone call with Putin.
“Well I made it very clear to him that uh,” Biden started but then paused for an uncomfortable amount of time. “That the United States expects when ransomeware operations are coming from his [inaudible] even though it is not, not sponsored by the state we expect them to act if we have given them enough information to act on who that is. And secondly we have set up a means for communications now on a regular basis to be able to communicate to one another when each of us thinks something is happening in the other country that affects the home country. And so it went well, I’m optimistic.”
A reporter then jumped in and asked Biden, “You said previously that there will be consequences. Will there be, sir?”
“Yes,” Biden responded as he hurried out of the room. The media then began laughing.
