Watch: Senator Ron Johnson Rips into Secret Service Over Hunter Biden Records

Speaking to Just the News about the Hunter Biden emails and the Secret Service’s claim not to have his travel records, Senator Ron Johnson has some harsh words.

In his view, the Secret Service is either corrupt or incompetent. Watch him say so here:

The background is that there has been a long fight between watchdogs and Secret Service over Hunter Biden’s travel, travel that often coincided with his business activities.

The Secret Service has long maintained that it doesn’t have any communications about that happening, something that many have long doubted.

Well, turns out those doubters were probably right: according to the Hunter Biden emails, emails that have come back to center stage thanks to the New York Times report on them, it appears that there were communications with the Secret Service about Hunter’s travel and that it coordinated those travel plans. As The Blaze reports:

For years, Republican lawmakers have sought Hunter Biden’s travel records as part of a larger review of Biden’s use of Secret Service protection while his father was vice president. But the Secret Service claimed it was unable to identify any such communications for several years during which Biden received Secret Service protection, frustrating those efforts.

However, emails from Hunter Biden’s laptop confirm that the Secret Service did coordinate Biden’s travel during the years for which the Secret Service told Republican senators they could not find such communications.

Well, that revelation and a demand for information forced the Secret Serice to finally send Senator Johnson documents regarding Hunter’s travel plans, information that was almost totally redacted.

You can see that in the video: the document that’s almost black with redactions, the one Senator Johnson shows, that’s what the “information” they sent him looked like.

Describing the long odyssey it took to get the documents and what the long time taken to supply him with the blacked-out documents implies, Johnson said:

Hunter Biden has [a record of communications]. Why didn’t the Secret Service retain it?

“So I can only come to two conclusions; I can make two assumptions. Either it’s complete incompetence, or corruption. Take your pick. Either way, there’s not a good explanation.”

Continuing and using the opportunity to slam the “Deep State,” Johnson said:

I’m getting sick and tired of these agencies in the deep state. And I’ll call it the deep state, because they refuse to provide the American public the information, the truth that the American public deserves.”

“I’m an elected representative of the American people. [The Secret Service] should be complying with legitimate congressional oversight, which is what this is, and yet they just thumb their nose at us. They’re completely arrogant. It’s unacceptable.

Indeed. He’s an elected representative of the American people. If he needs information, the Secret Service needs to hand it over, particularly when the subject of the request is already under investigation.

The fact that that’s not happening shows just how powerful and potentially unaccountable the bureaucracy has become.
