Remember when Nancy Antoinette went to a salon that had been closed by Covid policies of the sort she championed, pressing the owner to open it for her but no one else?
Remember when she showed off her hugely expensive freezer, full of gourmet ice cream, at a time when many Americans were out of work thanks to Covid? If you don’t, here’s that video:
We all have found our ways to keep our spirits up during these trying times. Mine just happens to fill up my freezer. #LateLateShow pic.twitter.com/dqA32d5lU1
— Nancy Pelosi (@SpeakerPelosi) April 14, 2020
So, perhaps she has good taste in ice cream, but Pelosi had certifiably poor taste in what to post or say when average Americans were suffering.
And now she’s back at it, though perhaps she’s gotten worse, going from out-of-touch to somewhat demeaning.
That, at least, is the impression given by recently leaked audio, audio that the RNC released alongside a video of the infamous ice cream video. Here’s the leaked audio:
The Gateway Pundit, reporting on what can be heard in the leaked clip, reports that:
“And to this day, my husband, Paul, who was born and raised in San Francisco – I was born and raised in Baltimore – to this day, he likes to dine at 8 and I like to eat at 5:30, like a peasant,” Pelosi said in the undated audio released by RNC Research on Wednesday.
Yikes. It does not appear, however, that the audio clip and the video the RNC used for it are related in anything other than spirit. Though her elitism is present in both, it appears that the two incidents were otherwise separate.
The combination does, however, highlight a key aspect of Nancy Pelosi’s personality: she looks on the average American with disdain.
It takes a certain type of person to show off a $20,000 or so refrigerator full of gourmet ice cream while millions are out of work. It takes a special type of person to describe people who eat at a certain time because they don’t have the connections to get the best reservations as “peasants.”
Now, perhaps such behavior can be excused, or at least tolerated, amongst those that have actually earned their money. It’s not great, but someone like Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, or Andrew Carnegie acting like an elitist is expected because, well, they made their billions from relatively humble backgrounds.
But Pelosi isn’t such a person: she’s a “public servant.” Yes, her husband is rich and made his money banking. But Pelosi is an elected official; there’s a certain amount of decorum expected, a certain standard of behavior that can’t be tolerated whatever her level of wealth.
Furthermore, the fact that she’s supposed to be a “public servant” makes it all the worse that she’s flaunting her wealth and calling fellow Americans peasants; she’s supposed to be serving the American people, not spitting on them and looking down on them with disdain.
Yet she is, because that’s just who nasty Nancy Pelosi is. She’s the type that’s apparently willing to call you a peasant for eating dinner earlier than she does.
