LOL: Watch Brian Stelter’s Humiliate Himself Trying to Explain What Happened to CNN+

It was recently announced that CNN+, the streaming service that CNN spent hundreds of millions of dollars creating and hiring top “talent” like Chris Wallace for, was folding after a mere month in operation. Despite the hundreds of millions spent, it brought in only about 10,000 viewers on average and only had 150,000 subscribers. Not great, given the level of investment involved.

Well, following that embarrassing announcement, CNN trotted out Brian “the Potato” Stelter to speak about what happened with CNN+ and what was going on over at CNN. Watch that embarrassing part of “Reliable Sources” here:

As you can hear in the video, Stelter obviously tried to distract somewhat from CNN+’s failure, or at least make it sound less bad, by reminding viewers about all the other bad news media companies like Disney and Netflix got last week too, saying:

What a turbulent week for major media companies with CNN, Netflix, Disney and Twitter all left spinning with no stopping in sight. Here at CNN, new ownership decided to shut down the CNN+ streaming service less than a month after it was launched by the previous management team. The u-turn was front-page news, stunning news and painful news for everyone involved.

Yes, Netflix and Disney got bad news from the stock market. Both suffered massive losses that were surely gut-wrenching for leftist management and those foolish enough to invest in leftism. But they didn’t have to shut down operations as a result of how badly they did. CNN+ did; it was such a bad effort that it was canceled within a month of operations!

In any case, Stelter continued, then getting more to the point and highlighting just how bad the move was for CNN and its employees, saying:

Years of development possibly down the drain. Some of the shows may never be seen. Hundreds of staffers may be laid off, though the company is trying to place many of them in new jobs. Amid these bruising headlines, folks are trying to make sense of it.”

But from there he went right back to trying to deflect what really happened over at the leftist network, saying:

Some partisans are believing the predictable talking points about politics, but the truth is, this was a corporate move. This CNN+ service was doomed because of the timing of the merger and clashing strategies. The new owner has plans to compline multiple streaming platforms to make one big challenger for Netflix. It’s hard to fathom as a CNN employee worrying about my colleagues being laid off — that this was simply about corporate strategy, but that’s what it was.”

No, it was doomed because no one wants to watch people like Chris Wallace, much less pay $6 a month for the privilege of doing so.

Perhaps getting rid of the failing service could thus be described as a “corporate move,” but the reason for the move’s necessity was that no one want to watch CNN.
