What does a Democrat do when she is upset with the outcome of a given political event? She goes berserk, impugning the legitimacy of said event.
Such was what happened when Trump beat Hillary and Hillary went down the Russia collusion lunacy, such was what happened when Stacey Abrams lost to Brian Kemp and went crazy screeching about racism, and such is what’s happening now with Nancy Pelosi, who’s beyond furious that the Supreme Court made the Constitutionally necessary decision and struck down Roe v. Wade in the Dobbs case.
She did so when appearing on CNN’s CNN’s “State of the Union”, sounding off and freaking out about the Supreme Court’s very reasonable decision. Losing her mind over it, Pelosi said:
“Who would have ever suspected that a creature like Donald Trump would become president of the United States by waving a list of judges he would appoint, therefore, getting the support of the far-right — and appointing those anti-freedom justices to the court. So, this is not about long game. We played a long game. We won Roe v. Wade a long time ago. We voted to protect it over time.”
Sorry Nancy, but no, Kavanaugh, Barrett, and Gorsuch are far from being “far-right”, much less “anti-freedom”. Rather, they’re pretty reasonable, particularly when compared to their leftist peers. Saying that killing children is no longer a fundamental right, as Alito did in the opinion, is far from being radical. In fact, it seems quite reasonable.
Second off, “we voted” on nothing regarding abortion. Rather, a bunch of liberal hacks in black robes randomly decided one day that it was a right, offering nothing in the Constitution to prove their point. That wasn’t a vote, that was a judicial decision. And now, because SCOTUS is sending the issue back to the states, people do actually have an opportunity to vote on it.
In any case, Nancy didn’t stop there. Rather, she went on with her ridiculous attack on the court, continuing to attack it as dangerous to freedom and the country. In her words:
“Let’s not take our eye off the ball. The ball is this court, which is dangerous to the freedoms of our country. Beware in terms of marriage equality, beware in terms of other aspects of it, and so it is. Let’s not waste our time on that.
“The fact is, this is a dangerous court to families, to freedom in our country. And that is why people have to mobilize. My saying is we don’t agonize. We organize, we go out there and make sure people know that if they, actually elections have consequences.”
The conservative court is far from being anti-freedom, as Nancy describes it. Though it might not be perfect, and indeed probably gives too much deference to the left and the agencies still, the Dobbs decision was certainly a good one, one that will be part of Trump’s legacy thanks to who he appointed.
