Thanks to the timidity and cowardice of the responding officers during the Uvalde shooting, many parents were pepper-sprayed, tazed, handcuffed, or tackled to the ground for demanding that the police stop the shooting or for trying to rush into the school and save their kids.
Sadly, the cops put more effort into stopping them than stopping the shooting, so they were forced to sit in shock and sickness as the rampaging lunatic killed their kids and the cops did nothing.
And they’re not happy about it. Not at all.
One furious parent, the grieving father of a student killed in the massacre, spoke out on the TV news station KHOU, which is based out of Houston.
That parent would be Jesse Rodriguez, father of the murdered, 10-year-old Annabell Guadalupe Rodriguez.
He, appearing on KHOU and slamming the police for their cowardly response to the shooting, said:
“They let our babies get slaughtered. Sacrificed. While their a**** were sitting behind a wall. You know what, that doesn’t help our children. We need to find out who’s accountable for all this.”
And Rodriguez wasn’t the only furious, grieving family member of a victim to sound off on police cowardice during the shooting. Jose Mata, brother to the murdered 10-year-old Xavier Lopez, spoke out too, saying:
“Ridiculous, man. They’re here to protect our community, and they didn’t. They were being selfish, you know?”
Further, the neighbor of the officer most responsible for the police force’s unwillingness to enter the building, Pete Arredondo, slammed Arredondo as a coward, saying:
“Pete Arredondo is a coward. He didn’t do his job. He failed the children.”
Adding to that, the same neighbor said
“I do not understand why the police from Uvalde, Texas, are guarding Pete Arredondo’s home. He is hiding in his home, requesting the PD patrol the area and guard his home day and night. He should come out and speak up.”
Steven McCraw, director of the Texas Department of Public Safety, spoke out about the police response in a press conference in which he and others dressed up as tough-guy Texas cops, despite their conduct showing the truth to be otherwise. Speaking on the issue, he tried to explain away the non-response, saying:
“It was a wrong decision. Period. There was no excuse for that. There were plenty of officers to do what needed to be done, with one exception, is that the incident commander inside believed he needed more equipment and more officers to do a tactical breach at that time.”
Apparently “I was only following orders” is now a valid defense, at least in the Lone Star State, for sitting by and watching as the children you’re supposed to protect are murdered.
Even if there is no legal responsibility for cops to protect a civilian, there is a clear moral responsibility to do so, particularly when it is children that are being murdered. It seems the modern Texans have lost the brave spirit of their ancestors. The brave souls that defeated the Comanche have been replaced by “men” that sit around while hearing a rampaging thug massacre children.
