Is Brandon hard at work trying to solve the baby formula shortage problem? According to FNC’s Tucker Carlson, no, no he’s not. Rather, Tucker thinks that Biden’s in no real hurry to fix the problem.
That came during Tucker’s opening monologue, during which he hammered Biden for having a shockingly insouciant attitude toward the obvious problem posed by a lack of baby formula.
Tucker did so by first noting that food shortages tend to have revolutionary consequences and then rolling a clip of a journalist named Savanah Hernandez showing that Target is out of baby formula. Speaking on the importance of that clip, Tucker said:
So that’s real. You may not like Savanah Hernandez’s politics, but she’s got a video camera inside Target and they don’t have any baby formula. So, babies need to eat, but they can’t. Is that a big problem? Yes, it’s a big problem. How big? We have a lot of problems right now. Ask yourself, is this a bigger problem than, say, using the wrong pronoun or Trump voters peacefully trespassing in a public building? It seems like a bigger problem than that.
So you would think the Biden administration would do something about it, and they certainly could if they wanted to. They can do anything. These are the people who claim to have the power to control global weather systems, the power to bend human biology to their will, so nothing is beyond the scope of their powers. And yet, in this particular case, Joe Biden is in no hurry to fix the problem. In fact, he joked about it today.
Indeed Biden did. Watch him do so here:
As you can hear in the video, Biden said “If we’d been better mind readers, I guess we could have, but we moved as quickly as the problem became apparent to us.”
Tucker skewered Biden for that joke, correctly noting that Team Biden, or at least the agencies under his control, have had warning of the issue for a long while and shouldn’t have been caught unaware by this. Speaking on that, he said:
“Well, if we’d been better mind readers.” Get it? It’s hilarious because actually nobody can read minds. Joe Biden is being sarcastic like your 14-year-old daughter. “Laugh, Dad, it’s not my fault.”
Okay, so Joe Biden does not read minds, but the question is, does anyone in the White House read newspapers or watch television news? Supplies of baby formula were down at least 20 percent as far back as January. That was not hidden knowledge. It was public knowledge. It was out there if you were looking.
[…]Okay, so Joe Biden has been on this problem since February. Why is it still a problem? Why is it still impossible to buy baby formula in stores in San Antonio tonight?
As context, the FDA should have known about this a long while ago and been preparing for the shortage with the ample time afforded it by the whistleblower.
As FNC’s Jacqui Heinrich pointed out during a back and forth with Psaki, concerns about the baby formula needing to be recalled were raised way back in October, with the FDA eventually starting to deal with the issue in December.
As a reminder, Heinrich said “It does seem like we should have seen this coming that maybe the FDA could have done more on the baby formula shortage. The whistleblower who used to work at that Sturgis plant warned the FDA top officials about safety concerns in October, but they didn’t interview that whistleblower until December. The inspection was until January 31st. The recall happened February 17th.”
That interview happened six months ago now, with the recall happening months about three full months ago. How was so little done to prepare? It looks like not only does Biden not read minds, but he and those in his administration don’t have minds either. Either that or, with his joke, he’s trying to act like a senile Nero and laugh as babies starve rather than fiddling as Rome burns.
