Brittney Griner, a women’s basketball player was arrested in Russia for marijuana possession months ago and, following her conviction, was locked up for smuggling drugs into the Russian Federation. President Vladimir Putin, it would appear, is nowhere near as soft on drug smuggling as Slow Joe Biden.
Nor does he bend or bow to cries of “racism”, so Brittney has remained locked up in the Russian Federation for her crime and likely will for the foreseeable future. In other words, America-hating Brittney’s crime is being punished under Russian law.
Griner, you will remember, is one of the woke WNBA athletes that protested and agitated against America by remaining off court for the National Anthem during the 2020 WNBA season. Now she sure wants the help of the country she so despises, but that help isn’t forthcoming.
Well, now America-hating NBA player LeBron James is jumping in to beg for America’s help in dealing with the situation, saying:
“For over 100 days, BG has faced inhumane conditions in a Russian prison and has been denied communications with her family and loved ones. As a decorated Olympian and member of an elite global sport community, BG’s detention must be resolved out of respect for the sanctity of all sport and for all Americans traveling internationally. It is imperative that the U.S. Government immediately address this human rights issue and do whatever is necessary to return Brittney home.“
He tweeted out that statement as an image, captioning it with “We need to come together and help do whatever we possibly can to bring BG home quickly and safely!! 🙏🏾 Our voice as athletes is stronger together. @uninterrupted 👑 #WeAreBG”

Much as Griner and her fellow America-haters might want the help of the country that they have protested against, she was caught in February with hashish-filled vape cartridges. Hashish is a cannabis-derived drug. That’s illegal in Russia so, much as Team Biden might mumble that she’s being “wrongfully detained”, the Russians have good reason to lock her up and keep her locked up.
In any case, “King James” isn’t the only sports figure calling for her release. Adam Silver, the current NBA commissioner, also called for her release, saying:
“It’s been now over 100 days since she’s been illegally held in Russia. I think it’s something that all of us should be heard on, contacting your representatives and others. I will only say, we are working in lockstep with the U.S. government and outside experts on trying to expedite her release in any way we can. Certainly, our hearts go out to her and her family and are just eager for her safe return”
But, again, Putin isn’t Biden; it seems unlikely he’ll be swayed by a gaggle of woke athletes saying that he’s racist. Griner was caught committing a crime by a country, Russia, that America isn’t on good terms with right now. We’ll see if she’s released at all, particularly if the current, anti-Russian sanctions regime is kept in place.
