The Austin America-Statesman, a Texas news site, recently released parts of the horrifying, 77-minute security footage from the Uvalde school where a sick, evil gunman massacred 19 kids and 2 teachers on that horrible day.
The footage released by the Statesman is shocking in that it exposes the cops involved in the shooting as even more contemptible cowards than they were already thought to be; in the shocking, sickening footage out of the school, the police can be seen standing around in the hallway, doing nothing, for an endless amount of time.
One of the cowardly cops does something on his phone, standing around rather than protecting the kids, another got some hand sanitizer from a dispenser in the hallway, not one did anything to try and rescue the kids.
One would think that leftists like Whoopi Goldberg would be just as infuriated by the shocking insouciance of the cops that sat by as children were murdered, particularly given just how anti-police the left has gotten in recent years.
Not Whoopi Goldberg, apparently. She went berserk over the video, not because of the cowardice of the police officers involved in it, but because the Statesman released the video segments, saying:
The Austin American statesman newspaper just leaked video that we’re not going to show you of the Uvalde police officers standing down for 77 minutes as the shooter shot 19 students and 2 teachers.
Now many parents of victims are outraged. This was released, but the paper is defending their decision. I find it indefensible. I’m sorry. You forgot that attached to all those sounds are people’s children, and you didn’t have to do this. They were going to see this video on Sunday. You did not have to release this video and leak it.
I think it’s appalling and you should be ASHAMED of yourselves for doing that, for being THOUGHTLESS about the parents who have to relive this every day because it’s on television! Every time you turn around, you got to see it, you know! And I don’t know if you guys over at that newspaper have kids, but shame on you! I know it doesn’t mean anything coming from me, but [gestures spitting] shame on you!
Not shame on the cops that let the kids die in the first place? Weird.
The Uvalde City Council decried the paper’s release of the video as well, with one member saying “The mayor said it was chicken, it was chickensh*t to release that video the way you did it. That part of the video was not supposed to be in what they’re doing on Sunday.”
That drew scorn from the crowd, however, which was much more furious about how the cops handled the situation than the release of the video.
One audience member, for instance, said “What about the cops? Are they chickensh*t?” Another shouted “You said that they [the cops] did their job, do you still think they did a good job?” Still, another demanded that the Council deal with the cops rather than attack the media, saying “You’re out here attacking the media. You should be attacking the cops” while yet another agreed, saying “Yeah, you should be attacking the cops that did nothing.”
