Who’s the biggest RINO out there? Many would give Liz Cheney the award, but, in fairness to her, she’s conservative on most issues and just hates Trump with an intensity rarely seen outside of a college classroom or MSNBC. So, though a RINO and an inveterate Trump-hater, she can’t take the cake as the arch RINO because she’s a tad too conservative.
Others would name someone like Adam Kinzinger, Bill Kristol, Jonah Goldberg, or some other such person known for hating Trump. But, in fairness to RINOs, those losers are just Democrats at this point, whatever they call themselves. Even the “RINO” moniker would be too kind, as they don’t even pretend to support conservative causes.
That leaves one RINO in particular as the one taking the cake: Utah Senator and failed presidential candidate Mitt Romney. He’s just far enough to the “right” to be considered a RINO, but far enough to the left that those who are actually conservatives want nothing to do with him.
Even that arch-RINO doesn’t think that Liz Cheney should run. He, speaking on the issue, said:
“I’m not going to encourage anyone to run for president. I’ve done that myself, and that’s something I’m not doing again. I don’t know if she really wants to do that. She would not become the nominee if she were to run. I can’t imagine that would occur.”
Further, Deseret News, which interviewed him on the issue, noted that “Cheney, he said, might run for other purposes but ‘I’m not in collaboration with that effort.’”
And Liz does probably intend on running. Speaking on the topic following her getting blown out of the water in the Wyoming primary, she said:
“I believe that Donald Trump continues to pose a very grave threat and risk to our republic. And I think that defeating him is going to require a broad and united front of Republicans, Democrats and independents, and that’s what I intend to be a part of.”
That was the same speech, by the way, in which Liz compared her safe to Abraham Lincoln, saying:
“The great original champion of our party, Abraham Lincoln, was defeated in elections for the Senate and the house before he won the most important election of all.Lincoln ultimately prevailed. He saved our union and he defined our obligation as Americans for all of history.”
So, despite even Mitt the Arch RINO being reluctant to back a Cheney’s bid to get back into the White House, Liz is looking readier than ever to run for president, though whether she actually thinks she can just take on the bad orange man or is just doing so as a spoiler is unclear.
We’ll see how that goes, though if even Mitt won’t join, it seems like she’s poised to do even worse in the presidential primary than in the Wyoming primary.
