Nancy Pelosi’s potentially ill-fated trip to Taiwan, the Republic of China, has split the GOP.
On one hand, certain China hawks are very much in favor of the trip because of how it sticks a thumb in the eye of the Chinese dragon and signals our commitment to a long-time US ally, or at least unofficial partner/protectorate, at a time when our willingness to defend our allies might be in doubt thanks to the Afghanistan fiasco and unwillingness to do more than “fight to the last Ukrainian” in the Ukraine.
On the other side are people like Tucker Carlson. They are no friends of Red China but, because of the current weakness of the US military and disaster that would likely ensue were we to attempt to fight the Chinese dragon with the woke armed forces, are less than willing to needlessly provoke China into what could very well be a hot conflict with no real end goal in mind.
Such is the camp that former President Donald Trump evidently falls in, as he sounded off on the Pelosi trip in a statement breaking from the generally more pro-war Conservative, Inc. members of the GOP, saying:
Why is Crazy Nancy Pelosi in Taiwan. Always causing trouble. Nothing she does turns out well (Two failed Impeachments, loss of House, etc.). WATCH!
That followed a previous Truth post in which he hammered Pelosi for the trip, commenting that she was making it to cover up what her husband had been up to and distract Americans from his misdeeds, saying:
Why is Nancy Pelosi getting involved with China and Taiwan other than to make trouble and more money, possibly involving insider trading and information, for her cheatin’ husband? Everything she touches turns to Chaos, Disruption, and “Crap” (her second big Congress “flop” happening now!), and the China mess is the last thing she should be involved in – She will only make it worse. Crazy Nancy just inserts herself and causes great friction and hatred. She is such a mess!!!
Adding to that, he “retruthed” it and added the comment “Because she’s Lonely, and Crazy as a bedbug! She needs to be away from home, especially at this moment, even if it starts World War III.”
Those comments ran counter to the typical GOP line about the trip. 26 Senate Republicans, including Mitch McConnell, released a statement supporting her trip, saying “We support Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi’s trip to Taiwan.”
Hopefully the Pelosi trip won’t lead to war. If it does, however, the Conservative, Inc. GOP’s support of it and the Trump-Carlson opposition to it shows the major rift between the MAGA wing and RINO wing: McConnell and his types are perfectly okay with throwing away the lives of “deplorables” for little reason in a foreign land, but Trump and his MAGA contingent are decidedly not. Remember that when they try to distract from their failures by beating the war drums.
