Florida Caterer Allegedly Served Marijuana-Laced Food at Wedding Now Being Sued

A lady who attended the Florida wedding is suing the caterer for allegedly giving the guests food tainted with “poisonous” amounts of marijuana.

Virginia Ann Taylor-Svoboda said in a lawsuit filed on Monday that Joycelyn Bryant of Joycelyn’s Southern Kitchen Inc. permitted food to be infused with dangerous levels of cannabis, which resulted in serious, irreversible injuries.

According to Taylor-Svoboda’s claim, she suffered from “marijuana poisoning” and that she was unaware that the food at the wedding contained marijuana. In her case, she accuses Bryant of negligence and is seeking damages in excess of $30,000.

Taylor-Svoboda’s lawsuit claims that Bryant “knew or should have known” that permitting the food supplied by (Joycelyn’s Southern Kitchen) to be laced with marijuana was reasonably likely to cause injuries and damages to wedding attendees.

On February 19, when Seminole County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at a wedding reception and discovered guests complaining of feeling “high,” mayhem ensued. After simply ingesting food and wine, one guest complained to deputies that he felt like he had narcotics within him.

When the police arrived, several sick attendees were being treated by first responders, and a few attendees had already been taken to the hospital.

According to reports, a female visitor told authorities that marijuana had been added to the dish. According to the complaint, another visitor said that he was sick and high and that he wanted to file a police report against anyone who might have laced his food.

A lab conducted testing on samples of the event’s cuisine. According to laboratory findings, bread and lasagna both contained THC, the active component of marijuana.

According to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office report, Bryant was accused of culpable negligence, delivery of marijuana, and violating the Florida Anti-Tampering Act in April.

The bride is also accused of providing drugs and tampering with meals, among other offenses.
