It looks like the GOP has won back control of the House of Representatives. This means that they will be able to start looking into some of the bad people who have been in the news recently, like Hunter Biden and his family.
Reps. Comer and Jordan just said that they will look into Hunter, as you can see in this broadcast of their announcement of a Congressional probe:
As you can hear in the video, the representatives promised that the GOP-controlled House of Representatives would now look into all options for holding Hunter Biden accountable. Comer said that he and other House Republicans have heard from whistleblowers about “numerous schemes” involving the Biden family and its influence-trading, money-making activities.
Rep. Comer says that China and Russia were involved in some of these plans. He then went on to talk about how the Biden family “swindled” investors out of hundreds of thousands of dollars, saying:
“We also found plans based in the United States where the Biden family swindled investors of hundreds of thousands of dollars — all with Joe Biden’s participation and knowledge.”
In addition, Comer said, “To be clear: Joe Biden is the big guy,” which backed up his point that Biden was involved in the schemes and made money from the operations of influence-peddling operations.
NBC said the following about the schemes Comer said he would look into:
Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., the incoming Oversight Committee chairman, has said an investigation into Hunter Biden and other Biden family members and associates will be a priority as Republicans try to determine whether the family’s business activities “compromise U.S. national security and President Biden’s ability to lead with impartiality.”
Republicans allege that Hunter Biden has used his father’s successful political career to enrich himself: He joined the board of a Ukrainian natural gas company in 2019, and an investment firm he co-founded helped a Chinese firm buy a Congolese cobalt mine from a U.S. company in 2016, among other financial endeavors.
Most importantly, Comer promised that the GOP would look into whether or not the plans of the Biden family had put America’s national security at risk. He said:
“Hunter and other members of the Biden family have a pattern of peddling access to the highest levels of government to enrich themselves.
“The American people deserve to know whether the President’s connections to his family’s business deals occurred at the expense of American interests and whether they represent a national security threat.”
“We want the bank records and that’s our focus. We’re trying to stay focused on: Was Joe Biden directly involved with Hunter Biden’s business deals and is he compromised? That’s our investigation.”
After Comer’s speech, Jim Jordan said that Big Tech was wrong to censor the Hunter Biden laptop story.
So maybe the GOP has learned its lesson and is ready to use power, at the very least, to expose and humiliate its enemies, especially the “Big Guy” and his (supposed) influence-peddling son. But the GOP has disappointed us many times before, so we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
