Rep. James Comer, one of the ranking members on the House Committee on Oversight and Reform, recently sounded off on Hunter Biden’s business dealings with the Chinese Communist Party and CCP-connected businesses. Speaking to Fox News Digital, Rep. Comer said:
“The Biden family’s suspicious business dealings with companies tied to Communist China are a national security threat. The Bidens sold access to foreign adversaries like China to enrich themselves to the detriment of American interests. Next Congress, Republicans will use the power of the gavel to deliver answers, transparency and accountability for the American people.”
Rep. Comer also spoke about how he and the House Committee on Oversight and Reform plan on holding the Biden family accountable in a press statement released by his office after he published an article on the topic of holding Biden and the federal government accountable in the Wall Street Journal. In the press release, Rep. Comer’s office said:
Biden family’s business schemes. Evidence obtained by committee Republicans released in September 2022 revealed Joe Biden lied to the American people when he said, “I have never spoken to my son about his overseas business dealings.” The Biden family business model is built on Mr. Biden’s political career and the connections he has created, which have bettered the fortunes of his family, particularly his son Hunter Biden. To the detriment of American interests, Joe Biden’s family traded on his name for profit around the world. If Mr. Biden’s family members have deals with foreign adversaries, it could compromise his decision-making as president in a way that threatens national security.
Apparently, the oversight effort will be particularly focused on Hunter’s interactions with Francis Person, the president of a company called Harves Group with which Hunter Biden did numerous business deals. Harves Group is tied to the Chinese Communist Party.
Person is under particular scrutiny invited Hunter on a trip to China to meet with and stay with a CCP oligarch named Bo Zhang, founder of the Harves Group, in an email. In it, Persons said, as Fox News Digital reports:
“Bo Zhang and his family would host us. They are a great family with great respect and relationships in China. They are very private, and wouldn’t tell anyone about you coming. Bo’s father-in-law is actually the Governor of Hainan (Chinese Hawaii), which he doesn’t advertise at all.”
“I’d like for you to get to know Bo. He’s a brilliant guy – he’s been groomed to take over his family’s dynasty, but he’s very humble. He will do great things one day, but he needs good people around him. He and his wife live in DC, and are expecting a child. He is building a huge house in McLean, and plans on working and living in the US.“
Initiatives such as this one will be possible in the House, theoretically, at least, because Republicans will control the House by a slim majority. Whether anything of substance will come from the oversight effort, however, seems doubtful.
