Texas Governor Greg Abbott played an awesome prank on the Brandon Regime over the Christmas weekend, sending three busloads of migrants to DC that arrived on Christmas Eve. One of those busloads of migrants was unloaded right in front of Kamala’s DC residence. Predictably, that hilarious prank sent the looney left into the stratosphere of anger.
White House assistant press secretary Abdullah Hasan, for example, said “Governor Abbott abandoned children on the side of the road in below freezing temperatures on Christmas Eve without coordinating with any federal or local authorities. This was a cruel, dangerous, and shameful stunt.”
Similarly, a leftie volunteer for the Migrant Solidarity Mutual Aid Network told ABC 7 “it really does show the cruelty behind Gov. Abbott in his insistence on continuing to bus people here without care.” She added that the migrants “don’t have clothes for this kind of weather and they’re freezing.”
Joining in the Abbott-bashing was New York Democrat Rep. Ritchie Torres. Torres blasted Abbott, writing on Twitter that “Governor Abbott claims to be a ‘pro-life Christian’ yet shows no regard for the lives of children left shivering in the freezing cold on Christmas Eve. Dropping off migrants in 18 degree weather is so cruel that it ought to be criminal.”
Making much the same point was Texas Democrat Rep. Joaquin Castro. He slammed Abbott in a tweet as well, writing that “worthless @GovAbbott dropping off people with no money and no means on Christmas Eve in 15 degree weather near the VP’s residence. How Christian of you, Greg Abbott. Being a heartless POS isn’t going to make you the next Republican president.”
Abbott, on the other hand, took quite the opposite point of view as those leftists attacking him and instead framed his sending the illegal immigrants to DC as the humanitarian solution that would keep them safe and healthy as unprecedented winter weather hits Texas. Describing why he sent the illegals to VP Harris’ home in DC in a letter, Abbott said:
With cold temperatures gripping Texas, your inaction to secure the southern border is putting the lives of migrants at risk, particularly in the City of El Paso. With thousands of men, women, and children illegally crossing into Texas every day, and with the expectation that those numbers will only increase if Title 42 expulsions end, the state is overburdened as we respond to this disaster caused by you and your administration. Your policies will leave many people in the bitter, dangerous cold as a polar vortex moves into Texas.
This terrible crisis for border communities in Texas is a catastrophe of your own making. These communities and the state are ill-equipped to do the job assigned to the federal government – house the thousands of migrants flooding into the country every day. With perilous temperatures moving into the area, many of these migrants are at risk of freezing to death on city streets.
Texas has borne a lopsided burden caused by your open border policies. The need to address this crisis is not the job of border states like Texas. Instead, the U.S. Constitution dictates that it is your job, Mr. President, to defend the borders of our country, regulate our nation’s immigration, and manage those who seek refuge here.
While you must step up and perform your constitutional duties, I will continue my work with the Texas Department of Public Safety, the Texas Division of Emergency Management, the Texas Military Department, and all other available state assets to protect Texas from the torrent of migrants and cartel activity streaming into our state.
