Duke University Professor Makes Most Absurd Racism Claim Ever

In one of the most feelgood, underdog stories in some time Buffalo Bill safety Damar Hamlin has been discharged from a Cincinnati hospital and has returned home to Buffalo. Few spectators or people at home would have expected Hamlin to live, no less be out of the hospital a week later after witnessing the horror of the incident in real time. Hamlin collapsed after a direct blow to the chest from Bengal wide receiver Tee Higgins. After taking a few steps, Hamlin collapsed backwards and was prone on the field for what seemed an eternity before being transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Now after a week of fighting for his life, Hamlin is on the road to full recovery. Sadly, that hasn’t stopped the race baiters from looking for five seconds of fame by seizing upon the tragedy to push their divisive, anti-white narrative. Check this out.

The “violence” of football “disproportionately affects Black men,” according to a Scientific American essay that accuses the NFL of having “exploited its Black players for decades” and of “persistent anti-Black practices.”

The piece, authored by Tracie Canada, an assistant professor of cultural anthropology at Duke University, and titled “Damar Hamlin’s Collapse Highlights the Violence Black Men Experience in Football,” underscores how the “nature of football’s violence disproportionately affects Black men.”

If you call being paid outrageous sums of money to play a game being “exploited”, then where do I sign up for this brand of exploitation? Obviously black men will be more disproportionately affected by injury, but could it be that black men make up the majority of the league? That would make way too much sense and blow the racist narrative out of the water.  Likely the author of this flimsy, lazy article, Tracie Canada, would not know the front side of a football from the back (they are the same), yet she feels adequately expert enough to cheapen Damar Hamlin’s tragedy with her incredibly offensive, racist narrative. In all levels of football, black men make up the majority of the fastest, strongest players. The fastest and strongest tend to play the positions that give and receive the most physical abuse. How is this whitey’s fault? White players tend to be larger and slower, such as offensive lineman and in most cases quarterbacks. To call football “racist” for favoring more athletically gifted players is in and of itself racist.

Canada called the scene “horrific for both its regularity and its exceptionality.” 

“The ordinariness of men running into each other at full speed represents a normalized—even rationalized—violence that is routine to this American game,” she wrote.

“While Black men are severely underrepresented in positions of power across football organizations, such as coaching and management, they are overrepresented on the gridiron,” she wrote. “Non-white players account for 70 percent of the NFL; nearly half of all Division I college football players are Black.”

“Further, through a process called racial stacking, coaches racially segregate athletes by playing position,” she added. “These demographic discrepancies place Black athletes at a higher risk during play.”

As a black man and former NFL player I can say this article is absolutely ridiculous.

Considering this is the only time something like this has happened in the NFL since the 1980’s how can the word “regularity” be used? The sport is by nature a contact sport, and technology and genetics have led to bigger, stronger men playing the sport at all levels. Again, to label that racist is to label genetics and evolution racist. The ridiculous assertions continue, with made up terms like “racial stacking” and the assertion that black players are overrepresented on the field. Would Canada care to ask the black men making life changing money or getting free educations if they have a problem with the system? Of course not, as the argument would be shut down immediately. Shame on Tracey Canada for race baiting for her five seconds of fame before Damar Hamlin is even back home with his family.
