There has been inflamed speculation about a gas stove ban in the works after the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently linked the appliances to a purported risk of brain damage.
On Monday, an agency commissioner with the U.S. Consumer Product and Safety Commission (CPSC) told Bloomberg that a ban on gas stoves in homes is “on the table.” He cited the appliance’s alleged link to serious health conditions such as respiratory illness, cancer, and childhood asthma.
“This is a hidden hazard,” commissioner Richard Trumka Jr. told Bloomberg, “Products that can’t be made safe can be banned.”
But a Biden official announced on Wednesday that the administration currently has no intention to implement a ban on the sale of new gas stoves.
“I am not looking to ban gas stoves and the CPSC has no proceeding to do so,” CPSC Chairman Alexander Hoehn-Saric said in a statement.
“Over the past several days, there has been a lot of attention paid to gas stove emissions and to the Consumer Product Safety Commission,” Hoehn-Saric said. “Research indicates that emissions from gas stoves can be hazardous, and the CPSC is looking for ways to reduce related indoor air quality hazards.”
“But to be clear, I am not looking to ban gas stoves and the CPSC has no proceeding to do so,” he added.
“CPSC is researching gas emissions in stoves and exploring new ways to address any health risks,” the statement continued. “CPSC also is actively engaged in strengthening voluntary safety standards for gas stoves. This spring, we will be asking the public to provide us with information about gas stove emissions and potential solutions for reducing any associated risks.”
“This is part of our product safety mission — learning about hazards and working to make products safer,” Hoehn-Saric’s statement concluded.
AOC (D-LaLaLand) drew attention to the potential gas stove ban by arguing with a Texas Congressman.
“Did you know that ongoing exposure to NO2 from gas stoves is linked to reduced cognitive performance?” Ocasio-Cortez wrote in response to a tweet from Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX).
It’s unclear if Rep. Occasional-Cortex was basing her argument on personal experience or scientific research.

“I’ll NEVER give up my gas stove. If the maniacs in the White House come for my stove, they can pry it from my cold dead hands. COME AND TAKE IT!!” Jackson had thrown down.
That was enough to light the match and set the Twitter mob aflame.
“Dems are literally insane,” actor Nicholas Tutora remarked.
“Is this an attack on @GordonRamsey,” GOP Congressional candidate Max Avery tweeted.
“How many [gas stoves] do you have?” actor Matthew Marsden asked.
The Chef’s Kiss was a picture of Jill Biden cooking with a gas stove.

The White House can reassure Americans all it wants about there being no gas stove ban coming. But after its ridiculous ban on incandescent light bulbs starting in 2023, and its lies about federal vaccine mandates, there is only one word to describe their hollow promises. Gaslighting.
