Late Pope Left Specific Wishes for His Funeral Regarding Joe Biden

Thursday’s funeral of Pope Benedict XVI has an unusual, as of yet unexplained request from the late Pope regarding Joe Biden. While it would be common practice for the American President to attend an event such as this in person, it won’t be the case this time as Pope Benedict XVI left personal instructions regarding Joe Biden.

The 95-year-old German born ex-pope, who stepped down in 2013 for Pope Francis but still retained the title of pope emeritus (I don’t know what that means either) requested that Biden stay home from his funeral. It’s unclear as to the reasoning, but considering Biden professes to be a devout Catholic yet also is in favor of killing the unborn on a whim, the unwritten reasoning seems obvious.

President Joe Biden was not invited to Thursday’s funeral of Pope Benedict XVI, and the U.S. ambassador to Italy will represent America at the pontiff’s burial, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Wednesday.

It was not clear if the lack of an invitation was a direct snub to Biden, a Catholic who nonetheless is an ardent supporter of abortion. But Jean-Pierre said the situation represented the wishes of the late pope himself.

Apparently, the pope saw all he needed of Biden in this life and didn’t want the dusty American President pooping his pants at the funeral. A definite possibility considering it already happened at the Vatican in 2022. Whether this was an intentional snub or not, the optics aren’t good. Much of the world is pointing and laughing at Joe Biden, and by extension America, and Biden rarely fails to embarrass us as a nation when given the stage, which he could fall off of at any given time.

“The U.S. Ambassador to the Holy See, Joe Donnelly, will represent the United States at the funeral of the Pope, in line with the wishes of the late Pope and the Vatican,” Jean-Pierre said. “This is what — this is what their requests were. This is what their wishes were.”

“So, as the President said in his statement, as I’m sure you saw, he joins Catholics and so many others around the world in mourning the passing of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI,” Jean-Pierre said. “He will always remember the Pope’s generosity and meaningful conversation they had when he visited the Vatican in 2011.”

Apparently, Biden left an impression on the pope in 2011. It would be surprising if Biden’s hypocrisy in relation to Catholicism and his stance on abortion wasn’t a mitigating factor in the late pope’s decision. Only the official delegations from Italy and Germany were formally invited, but other world leaders will be attending in a personal capacity, except for Biden. Good timing as Joe probably needs some time off after his holiday vacation in the Virgin Islands.

Biden’s support for abortion has angered fellow Catholics, including in September of 2021, when he condemned the U.S. Supreme Court for declining to stay a Texas law effectively banning most abortions after six weeks, and last year, after the high court struck down Roe v. Wade.

In October 2019, Biden was denied communion at a Catholic church in South Carolina. Father Robert Morey, the pastor at Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Florence, said he refused Biden communion because “any public figure who advocates for abortion places himself or herself outside of Church teaching.”

“Holy Communion signifies we are one with God, each other and the Church. Our actions should reflect that,” Morey stated, adding, “As a priest, it is my responsibility to minister to those souls entrusted to my care, and I must do so even in the most difficult situations. I will keep Mr. Biden in my prayers.”

It can’t be stated with any certainty, but the circumstantial evidence is overwhelming. The Catholic Church is not happy with Catholics like Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi running around professing their Catholic faith yet spitting in the face of church doctrine. While the Vatican probably won’t say it, nor will the late pope’s people, but Joe Bidens hypocrisy is coming home to roost.
