The wokesters running the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) just presented their annual awards to a record-low number of viewers. Those that did have the misfortune of watching got to see spoiled narcissists both celebrate themselves made sure to find a ridiculous reason to get outraged.
There was some actual entertainment, though it was inadvertent. That came when the Best Actress award winner, Jessica Chastain, tripped going up the stairs.
But the usual leftist outrage stoking from the ravenous woke mob came when beloved Christian actor Mark Wahlberg presented an award to the predominantly Asian cast of Everything Everywhere All at Once.
That’s because Whalberg assaulted two Vietnamese men decades ago, as The LA Times described in an article, writing:
The father of four has said he was trying to steal beer when he punched Johnny Trinh in the eye after first hitting another Vietnamese man in the head with a large stick and hurling racial slurs. Wahlberg spent 45 days of a two-year sentence in prison for the felony.
Never mind that that occurred decades ago and Wahlberg hasn’t been involved in anything like it since. The wokesters, always looking to stir up trouble and cancel someone who doesn’t fit in their version of the world, went berserk on Twitter.
“Friendly reminder that Mark Wahlberg violently attacked two Vietnamese men and I think it is quite obtuse that he was the one to announce Everything Everywhere All At Once as the winner of the SAG award tonight,” one user wrote.
“They really had mark wahlberg whom got arrested for beating up a Vietnamese man a long time ago present best ensemble to an film with a lot of Chinese American actors in it,” said another.
“I gotta say, having Mark Wahlberg, who literally went to jail as a teen for committing a hate crime against a Vietnamese man, present an award to the cast of Everything Everywhere All At Once was certainly a choice,” commented a third.
In 2014, Wahlberg petitioned for a pardon for the crime, though he ultimately withdrew the request. In any case, he has since apologized and repented.
“I am deeply sorry for the actions that I took on the night of April 8, 1988, as well as for any lasting damage that I may have caused the victims. Since that time, I have dedicated myself to becoming a better person and citizen so that I can be a role model to my children and others,” he said.
But apologizing is never enough and so still they attacked Wahlberg, though it’s not like many people even saw him hand off the award. According to NBC Right Now, only about 230,000-250,00 people were concurrently watching the show.
Still, the incident shows the vengeful minds of the wokies. Rather than move on or use the incident as a teaching moment and example of letting go of grievances, they went full attack dog on an actor who has become a faithful Christian and reformed from his days as a young thug.
