A group of furious fathers helped “restrain” a peeping tom who had been spying on their young daughters until police arrived at a South Carolina Cracker Barrel to arrest a life-long pervert with a long criminal history of violative gazing.
Douglas Lane, 53, was first convicted of “peeping, voyeurism or aggravated voyeurism” in 1997 and since then has been convicted on several different occasions for repeating his disgusting habits. Still, there he was, walking free on the streets to torment future victims.
This time, Lane just happened to be at everybody’s favorite chain restaurant as a team of 15-year-old softball players was celebrating their participation in a local tournament with their families. As the account goes, one of the young female players was in a bathroom stall and noticed Lane’s face beneath the privacy wall on the floor.
Fox 35 had more, saying “a 15-year-old girl in town for a softball tournament was in the bathroom…when she noticed something was moving near her feet. When she looked down, Long said she saw that a man’s head from the stall next to her.”
“The girl told her father, who confronted the man,” Fox 35 continued, “after an employee got him out of the bathroom. When Lane tried to leave the restaurant, the police chief said a group of fathers tackled him and kept him restrained until officers got to the scene.”
Witnesses recounted that they saw a man, since identified as Lane, running outside but being tackled by a group of other men, since identified as some of the fathers, in the parking lot.
“Lane has been charged with voyeurism, simple possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia,” Fox 35 concluded.

A convicted sex offender was tackled and detained by a group of fathers in a South Carolina Cracker Barrel parking lot Sunday after a 15-year-old girl accused the man of looking under bathroom stalls in the ladies’ room.
Online records from the Duncan Police Dept. confirmed that 53-year-old Douglas Lane of Charlotte, North Carolina, has been charged with voyeurism, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Lane is a registered sex offender in North Carolina and has been charged for peeping at least eight times prior to the Sunday incident.
WYFF 4 added that:
A witness told WYFF News 4 that he was inside the restaurant and heard a commotion that sounded like a fight. He said he heard people say, “Get him, he’s getting away.”
He and his son were close to the door and saw a man with a very bloody nose run outside.
The witness said he saw someone tackle him on the other side of the parking lot.
He and his son saw people hit the man. The witness said he handed off his son to his wife and went outside and took the video. He said he heard police come shortly after that.
He said his son asked him a lot of questions about what happened and he told him that “there was a bad guy and a lot of good guys took down the bad guy.”
