Luke Combs and his wife just announced that they’re adding a new child to their family. They shared that great news via their Instagram accounts, on which Combs and his wife can be seen with their first son, Tex Lawrence, wearing a shirt that says “Big Brother.” The caption on the photo reads, “Joining the 2 under 2 club! Baby boy #2 coming this September.”
The post also contains audio of an upcoming song Combs is set to release on Friday, March 24, called “Take You With Me.” Based on the lyrics in the Instagram post, the theme of this new song appears to be about parenting.
In that song, Combs sings, “Got a young’in of my own, he’s too young to understand it. When he gets a little older, watching the stage where I’m standing. He’ll know it’s about him, when he hears me sing I’ll take you with me.”
Combs also released the song “5 Leaf Clover” off the upcoming album which has quickly become a fan-favorite. Country Now wrote about the new single:
The new tune finds Combs stretching the bounds of his stunning vocals while pondering over all the luck he’s been experiencing lately. For him, that success is not measured by how much money he makes or the amount of fame he gains, but instead he considers himself lucky if he has “a fridge full of cold beer” and folks that “still got a bunch of good years.”
Combs said about this new fan-favorite in an interview, “A while back my buddy Newdy and I were looking around the clover plot at my house for 4 leaf clovers. I eventually found one, but shortly thereafter, he found a 5 leaf clover and I thought to myself, ‘Man, how lucky do you have to be to find a 5 leaf clover?’ Didn’t think too much of it at the time but wrote that down as a title in my phone.”
Continuing, he added “A few weeks later, I was writing with Jessi Alexander and Chase McGill and it came up. It still wasn’t really anything that jumped off the page to me, but I shared the idea and guitar melody I had with them and they loved it. We ended up writing the song that day,” Combs continued. “I eventually started playing it at shows and posting a video of the song, and y’all quickly let me know it was one I had to record; that’s why I’m super pumped for y’all to finally hear it!”
Combs has risen to the top of the country music charts, impressing those around him and his audience with his incredible talent and humble nature, as Vulture reported, saying:
Talk to enough people around Combs — those who work with the 32-year-old singer or, really, anyone who has interacted with him in some capacity — and a clear picture emerges: namely, that of an uncharacteristically humble, down-to-earth, hardworking, fiercely loyal teddy bear of a country star. Or as one of his main collaborators, best friends, and hunting buddies, Dan Isbell, succinctly tells me, “Everybody around Luke will take a bullet for him.”
Combs is unquestionably one of the biggest acts in the country genre today, with a record-breaking 14 No. 1 singles to date, including his latest, “Doin’ This,” off his just-released third album, Growin’ Up. In fact, he has yet to release a single that hasn’t topped the Billboard Country Airplay charts. And in the five years since his agent, WME’s Aaron Tannenbaum, began booking Combs’s shows, the singer has sold out every one of them. (“Please don’t give me the credit for that one,” Tannenbaum insists with a laugh.)
