Aging, woke actor Kevin Bacon just went viral, and not in a good way, for a dance he and his wife did in support of…drag shows for kids. Yes, really. Apparently that’s the issue he wants to cash in his fame on.
Of course, it’s essential to point out that no one is arguing whether or not drag is an “art” or “right.” As tasteless and unappealing as it is to sane people, what other deviants choose to do with their own time is up to them. If Bacon were honest, he’d be wearing a shirt saying he supports presenting hyper-sexualized content to minors. That’s the debate, despite his framing it as a rights issue.
Captioning the video, Bacon made sure to include as many buzzwords and hashtags as possible, thus debasing himself further with a grotesque display of the English language.
“Drag bans are bad karma. Right now, drag performers and the LGBTQIA+ community need our help,” Bacon wrote on Twitter. “Tap the link in my bio to shop the #SixDegreesOfKB campaign supporting the [ACLU] Drag Defense Fund in the nationwide effort to protect creative expression or make a gift. #DragIsARight.”

And yes, the guy on the shirt has that weird, creepy mustache that we associate with windowless vans. These people are horrid.
As background, Bacon’s dance was sparked by states passing bills that would prohibit sexually explicit drag performances where children might be present. That’s what he was dancing for…letting kids be sexualized by deviants.
Appropriately, Bacon was roasted over the coals in the comments section.
“No one, and I mean no one, is out there pushing to ban Drag Queens. Why is it so hard to consider age inappropriate behavior as the root of the blowback? Be the draggiest drag queen you can be, just not at elementary schools,” one user posted on Twitter.
“Add Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick to the list of people promoting the sexualization of children because no one is trying to ban drag,” a second user shared. “We’re trying to keep it away from children, which is a cause anyone-not-a-pedophile could dance about.”
“Oh look another virtue signaling celebrity who doesn’t really understand the issue. Shocking,” a third handle posted. “We’re not protesting drag queens or the freedom for them to perform. We’re just asking for kids not to be exposed to implicitly sexual performances, let alone giving them.”
Tennessee recently passed a law of the sort that Bacon was protesting. The bill’s summary provides that (emphasis ours):
This bill creates an offense for a person who engages in an adult cabaret performance on public property or in a location where the adult cabaret performance could be viewed by a person who is not an adult. The bill defines an “adult cabaret performance” to mean a performance in a location other than an adult cabaret that features topless dancers, go-go dancers, exotic dancers, strippers, male or female impersonators who provide entertainment that appeals to a prurient interest, or similar entertainers, regardless of whether or not performed for consideration.
A first violation of this offense is a Class A misdemeanor, and a second or subsequent violation of this offense is a Class E felony.
