Tony Bobulinski has taken legal action against Fox News commentator Jessica Tarlov, filing a defamation lawsuit in response to remarks she made that he alleges severely tarnished his personal and professional reputation.
During a segment on “The Five” last Wednesday, Tarlov falsely asserted that Bobulinski’s legal expenses were covered by a pro-Trump Super PAC. She claimed, “Tony Bobulinski’s lawyers fees have been paid by a Trump super PAC. That’s as recent as January.” Bobulinski strongly refuted these claims, asserting that he had personally financed his legal battles since 2020, totaling over $500,000.
The following day, Tarlov attempted to clarify her statement, acknowledging, “What was actually said at the hearing was that the law firm representing Mr. Bobulinski was paid by a Trump PAC. I have seen no indication that those payments were made in connection to Mr. Bobulinski’s legal fees, and he denies that they were.”
However, Bobulinski deemed Tarlov’s clarification insufficient, criticizing her refusal to issue a sincere apology and correct the record. He expressed his intent to seek accountability through legal means.
Bobulinski, a former business associate of Hunter Biden, contends that Tarlov’s public comments amounted to defamation, causing harm to his character and reputation. Through the lawsuit, he seeks compensatory, special, and punitive damages, emphasizing that his primary goal is to uphold the truth.
The situation escalated when Bobulinski’s attorneys demanded a public retraction and apology from Tarlov, specifying that any apology should be made at the beginning of “The Five” and explicitly acknowledge the falsehood of her previous statements. They criticized Tarlov’s initial response as insufficient and accused her of downplaying the gravity of her remarks.
In their correspondence, Bobulinski’s legal team emphasized that Tarlov’s false statements, particularly those invoking President Trump, could inflame public sentiment against Bobulinski and undermine faith in his sworn testimony. They insisted that Tarlov’s actions warranted accountability for the harm caused.
