President Joe Biden’s latest teleprompter stumble set the internet ablaze on Wednesday after he blurted out a bizarre line while talking about a former theology professor. The slip-up occurred as Biden shared memories from his Catholic school days, only to find himself tripping over himself once again.
“My theology professor at the Catholic school I went to was a guy named Riley Last Name,” he said, apparently reading “last name” directly from the teleprompter instead of revealing the individual’s actual surname.
The gaffe quickly became a talking point online, fueling a chorus of criticism over a familiar pattern in Biden’s speeches. This wasn’t his first teleprompter tangle, and people didn’t waste a second piling on, seeing it as yet another entry in the long list of slip-ups that have characterized Sleepy Joe’s speaking style.

Past instances of Biden’s teleprompter troubles have drawn widespread attention. During his 2020 campaign, several high-profile miscues were attributed to either misreading or going off-script, providing his opponents with plenty of ammunition. In July 2021, Biden mistakenly read “end of quote” from his teleprompter during a White House speech, adding more fuel to the fire.
In a July 2022 speech on abortion, he read stage directions aloud, declaring “Repeat the line” before repeating the line verbatim, prompting ridicule from his critics and jokes from late-night comedy hosts. And at the 2021 G7 Summit, he appeared lost in his prepared remarks, saying, “I’m going to get in trouble with staff,” as if he was struggling to keep up with the script.

If I were to guess, he was saying Riley was the guys last name. Professors don’t usually go by their first names. “Professor Riley”.
