Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) tweeted her support for fellow ‘Squad’ member Jamaal Bowman, who suffered a significant defeat in a high-profile and incredibly costly Democratic primary for New York’s 16th Congressional District. However, her message missed the mark, as she accidentally tagged an entirely unrelated and obscure Twitter user instead of Bowman.

Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), who entered Congress as a Bronx middle school principal, was ousted by Westchester County Executive George Latimer in a race that has been labeled by AdImpact as the most expensive House primary ever recorded.

In her tweet, Ocasio-Cortez praised Bowman’s dedication to public service and his upbringing in public housing, describing him as a “true public servant.” Yet, the error of tagging the wrong account, which turned out to be a personal account used for sharing mundane life updates, detracted significantly from her intended message.

The blunder quickly became a good joke for social media users, who pointed it out as a clear example of the ‘Squad’s’ carelessness and lack of attention to detail.

Bowman’s defeat is a marked blow to the progressive wing of the Democratic Party, especially since he was a key figure in the “Squad,” known for their far-left advocacy and pushing of progressive agendas.

With Bowman’s exit, the ‘Squad’ now faces potential restructuring and serious questions about its future direction and influence within the Democratic Party.
