A second surveillance video has surfaced, raising serious concerns about possible election fraud involving Hamtramck City Councilman Abu Musa. The video evidence comes just days before the August primary in Michigan. It shows Musa, a Democrat from Wayne County, appearing to participate in ballot-stuffing activities late at night. Click on Detroit obtained over 800 hours of footage through a Freedom of Information Act request, revealing two incidents that warrant scrutiny.
In the first clip, a black pickup truck approaches Hamtramck City Hall after dark. Inside the vehicle, three men are visible, including someone who looks like Councilman Musa in the backseat. The footage shows the driver forcefully stuffing multiple bundled absentee ballots into the dropbox. Just four days later, another video captures Musa in a different car, where he hands over large stacks of ballots to the driver, who deposits them into the dropbox.
Michigan State Police have confirmed that these videos are now part of a criminal investigation, being compiled for potential prosecution. This election misconduct comes amid already heightened scrutiny of electoral practices in Hamtramck. Recently, two other city council members faced charges related to similar allegations of submitting bundled ballots improperly.
The investigation into Musa and other council members has become increasingly serious. Official documents released by the Michigan Attorney General’s Office indicate that several individuals, including Musa and others, are under investigation for conspiracy related to the unlawful acquisition and manipulation of absentee ballots. A petition from the attorney general alleges that the suspects conspired to obtain unmarked absentee ballots from newly naturalized citizens, filled them out themselves, and influenced election outcomes. Some suspects even allegedly paid for votes or tried to manipulate residency claims to sway results.
