Pauly Shore, the actor famous for his role in “Encino Man,” has shared a deeply personal health scare with fans. In an Instagram video posted on Thursday, he revealed that he had a tumor removed from his pancreas. Filming from his hospital bed, Shore spoke candidly about his journey from initial concern to surgery.
Three months prior to the video, Shore had undergone a full body preventative scan at SimonMed in Las Vegas. “A week later, they called me with the results. They noticed something in my abdominal area. It was a tumor inside my pancreas,” he explained. The discovery was shocking, prompting him to seek medical advice. Soon after, he underwent surgery to have the tumor removed.
Shore provided some relief in his update, stating, “Thankfully, my tumor was benign. It might have been there for 15 to 20 years.” He indicated that while the tumor itself wasn’t an immediate threat, his doctor felt it wise to remove it. “It wasn’t an emergency, but my doctor felt removing it was the right thing to do,” he noted.
The emotional toll was significant. “Mentally, it really messed with me. Knowing there was a tumor inside me… could it grow? Burst? Turn into something worse? You just don’t know,” Shore admitted, illustrating the anxiety that often accompanies health concerns.
In his post, Shore emphasized the importance of being proactive with health issues. “Instinct played a huge role in this,” he explained, encouraging others to trust their gut feelings about their medical care. Had he not opted for that full-body scan, he might never have known about the tumor. “I’ve always been on top of my health — going to the gym, using saunas, massages, having my teeth checked, doing blood work, colonoscopies, chiropractor, etc., but I had never done a full-body scan. I had no symptoms. This was just me following my instincts,” he shared.
Shore also encouraged his followers to prioritize preventative health care, cautioning, “You want to find it before it finds you.” With his focus now on recovery, he assured fans, “I’m all right, and I’m healing every day.” His message serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of health and the value of regular check-ups.
