Sixteen people sustained injuries following a school bus rollover crash in Austin, Texas, early Wednesday morning. The bus, part of the Cleveland Independent School District, was carrying 58 students when it overturned just after 7 a.m. at the intersection of FM 1010 and County Road 347. Fortunately, all students are reported safe, and no serious injuries have been recorded.
Emergency responders reacted swiftly to the scene, evacuating students and transporting them to a local hospital for evaluation. According to reports from KHOU, the incident marks the second crash involving a Cleveland ISD bus in the same area within a week. Aerial footage highlighted the scene, depicting one individual being moved on a stretcher, along with a child carried by a first responder toward an awaiting ambulance.
Medical personnel evaluated the students at HCA Houston Healthcare Cleveland purely as a precaution. Parents were subsequently allowed to pick up their children directly from the hospital. Cleveland ISD officials announced plans to conduct a full investigation into the crash, though the cause remains unknown at this time.
Meanwhile, another school bus from Leander ISD experienced a separate crash along Nameless Road earlier in the week. That incident involved 43 individuals, resulting in injuries for 16 of them. Authorities warned that those figures might change as more information becomes available.
As the investigation unfolds, the emphasis remains on the safety and well-being of the children involved in these incidents. The swift actions from transportation staff and responders have helped ensure that, despite the chaos, the outcome could have been far worse.
