Fox News took the time to honor Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, during a tribute aired on Wednesday. Host Brett Baier described Kirk as “a hugely influential, charismatic, and engaging individual” who dedicated his life to promoting civil discourse and the open exchange of ideas. In the tribute, Fox highlighted Kirk’s remarkable journey from establishing Turning Point USA to turning it into what Baier referred to as a “political juggernaut.”
The impact of Kirk’s work resonates with many. An onlooker identified as Nick Sortor praised the tribute on social media, calling it “beautiful” and emphasizing how effective Kirk was in shaping American politics from a young age. Reflecting on Kirk’s achievements, Sortor remarked, “Starting as a teenager, Kirk put together an INCREDIBLE organization to save American youth from woke indoctrination.” He added, “Charlie NEVER stopped working to better our country. It was truly an incredible thing to witness. God Bless him.”
Tragedy struck when Kirk was shot dead at Utah Valley University during a debate event organized by Turning Point USA. Reports indicate that a sniper shot him from approximately 600 feet away, hitting him in the neck. Witnesses described a scene filled with confusion and panic as chaos unfolded in the crowd. Taylor Dufur, a witness, recalled, “We heard the gunshot, and people just started dropping.” He vividly described seeing Kirk “falling out of his chair” with blood visible on his neck.
Haley Bermingham, Kirk’s wife, echoed the sentiments of disarray, stating, “And then next thing you know, you’re just trying to look for your exits.” As fear spread, a man in the crowd called for people to get down, heightening the sense of impending danger for those present.
Witness Dufur expressed his anger over the event, lamenting the deep divisions within society. “It makes me angry,” he said, adding, “that someone could have this much hate inside them as they want to take somebody out of his world.” He observed, “It’s just sad, as well, because our world is so divided at the moment. And I feel like people just need to get along.”
The loss of Charlie Kirk has left a significant void within the community he impacted so profoundly. His legacy, marked by his relentless dedication to activism and the promotion of conservative values, will likely continue to inspire many for years to come.
