Theologian Christopher Yuan’s family has reached out for prayers after a severe accident left him paralyzed. A post on his X account reported that Yuan fell while using a device to treat back pain. Following the incident, he was admitted to a trauma center where doctors conducted tests and scheduled surgery.
According to a message from his mother, Angela, Yuan is now paralyzed from the neck down. “Pray for God’s mercy on His servant, that the surgery will be successful and Christopher will not be paralyzed permanently,” she implored. The family’s request for prayers reflects their hope amid a difficult situation.
Initially, Yuan’s posts indicated he had lost all feeling and mobility in his legs. Updates followed, revealing that he also could not feel his arms. His family has been consistent in keeping followers informed about his condition. “Dear friends, please pray for Dr. Christopher Yuan! He had a fall at home this morning and cannot feel or move his legs,” read an initial update. The situation quickly escalated, leading to his urgent admission to the hospital.
Yuan’s accident resulted from an unusual fall while using a teeter inversion table intended to alleviate back pain. Describing the incident, a post detailed how he fell upside down, causing a heavy machine to fall on his chest. “It is not a normal fall,” the post emphasized, underscoring the seriousness of the situation.
Yuan is known for his transformation story, once a homosexual and drug dealer sentenced to six years in federal prison. During his incarceration, he changed his life and turned to Christianity. In a 2018 interview, he explained his understanding of “holy sexuality,” defined as “chastity in singleness and faithfulness in marriage.” His personal journey has made him a prominent voice on issues related to faith and sexuality, aiming to reach those who identify as LGBTQ with the message of redemption.
One day before his fall, Yuan attended the memorial service for Charlie Kirk, a Christian and conservative activist. Sharing the moment on X, he wrote, “My friend, Frank Turek, just spoke and shared the gospel. Pray that those here who have not surrendered to Christ will hear and believe the gospel!” His commitment to sharing faith, even amid personal crisis, speaks volumes about his character.
As prayers and positive thoughts flood social media, Yuan’s community remains hopeful for a successful surgery and a possible recovery. For now, the focus is on his health and the gradual process that lies ahead. The road will be long, but with the support of family and friends, there is hope for healing.
