President Trump has made significant strides in addressing illegal immigration since taking office in January. Recent statistics indicate a plunge in the number of illegal crossings, marking record lows. In stark contrast, during the four years under Joe Biden’s administration, approximately 15 million illegal aliens entered the United States. This troubling statistic highlights a growing concern: many of these individuals are criminals who pose a risk to public safety.

Law enforcement agencies, particularly the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), have diligently worked to apprehend those seeking to remain in the country illegally. A notable incident involved a high-speed chase in Webb County, where DPS troopers pursued a human smuggler, Diego Hernandez Piña of Laredo. This dangerous encounter ended when Piña lost control of his vehicle, crashing into a semi-truck. Thankfully, no major injuries were reported. Both Piña and a 15-year-old accomplice were charged with human smuggling, a serious felony. The three illegal aliens found in the vehicle were subsequently transferred to Border Patrol.

The Texas DPS’s commitment to tackling illegal immigration is evident in various operations. Just last month, law enforcement uncovered 23 illegal aliens packed inside a semi-truck during a routine traffic stop on Texas’s IH-35 highway. Body camera footage from the arrest showed the driver, Amaya, claiming he possessed a Commercial Driver’s License, despite not having it on him at the time. It soon emerged that he was unlawfully operating the vehicle.

Article IV, Section 4 of the U.S. Constitution explicitly lays out the government’s duty to protect against invasion. This fundamental obligation to safeguard the nation was neglected during Biden’s administration. Under President Trump’s leadership, however, there has been a marked shift in policy. The emphasis on enforcing the rule of law has been reestablished, prioritizing national security and the rights of citizens.

The actions and policies enacted by Texas DPS and federal authorities reflect a robust response to illegal immigration. The high-speed pursuit and subsequent arrests illustrate the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in their mission to uphold the law. With President Trump in office, there is a renewed commitment to protecting the nation against those who would undermine its safety and sovereignty.
