During an attack near the White House, Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal ambushed U.S. National Guard members, leading to the death of Army Specialist Sarah Beckstrom and serious injuries to Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe. The judge criticized the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement measures as being “unlawful,” “arbitrary and capricious,” and driven by “anti-immigrant sentiments.” This characterization stands in stark contrast to the administration’s view that these reforms were necessary defensive actions against potential threats.
