Attorney General Pam Bondi has found herself under fire from MAGA conservatives as instability in Minnesota continues. Critics are voicing their concerns on X, insisting that she and the Department of Justice are not acting decisively enough. They argue the need to suppress the chaos while also targeting the key figures behind the unrest, rather than merely arresting low-level participants.

The backlash gained momentum after Newsmax host Todd Starnes delivered a scathing assessment, questioning Bondi’s approach. Starnes asserted that the time for merely sending letters to Democratic politicians has passed. “Who wants to tell AG Pam Bondi that the time for strongly worded letters is long gone?” he asked, urging her to take stronger measures. His suggestions included declaring an insurrection and invoking the Insurrection Act to quell what he described as a rebellion. Starnes concluded with a demand for action, stating, “Enough with words – it’s time for action.”

In response, Bondi attempted to reassure her critics by asserting that significant steps are being taken. She quoted Starnes’ post, emphasizing that any portrayal of inaction is misguided. “The full weight of federal law enforcement is engaged in Minnesota and this Department of Justice is advancing action on every front,” she stated. Bondi provided a brief rundown of her office’s actions, underscoring that subpoenas had been issued to officials connected to Governor Walz, as well as arrests made involving individuals tied to illegal activities.

Specifically, Bondi referenced that “Walz, Ellison and Frey have acknowledged receipt of federal grand jury subpoenas,” and that arrests had been made in connection to the assault on a religious organization. “Today we arrested a man who violently assaulted an HSI agent,” she added. Her office appears committed to addressing what she termed “judicial activism” impacting Minnesota, promising that “more arrests are coming.”

However, Bondi’s reassurances fell flat among many of her constituents. Comments on her post reflected frustration and disillusionment. One user remarked, “Get off X. Accountability shouldn’t be ‘coming.’ It should already be here.” Another pointed out that while Bondi claimed to be using the full weight of the government, she was failing to take the drastic steps urgently demanded. “You’re saying ‘full weight’ while literally not using the full weight of the government to put down an insurrection,” the commenter observed, highlighting a perceived disconnect between rhetoric and reality.

In a similar vein, a third comment expressed disappointment, emphasizing the erosion of faith in her ability to bring about the law and order that voters expected. “We voted for law and order; to date, it doesn’t seem like you’ve been focused on what we voted for,” the user wrote, shaping a narrative of accumulated frustration stemming from unfulfilled promises.

Overall, the exchange underscores a growing rift between the expectations of conservative constituents and what they perceive as a sluggish response from the DOJ. As Bondi’s tenure unfolds, the pressure will only intensify for her to respond decisively or risk alienating her base further.
