Leftists claim that there are few, if any, deleterious effects of illegal immigration that we need to worry about. In their minds, illegals need to be welcomed into the US because the “global south” has been oppressed by America for far too long, and only by letting in masses of millions can we atone for all the damage we’ve done.
Hence the “no human is illegal” pearl-clutching, AOC’s crying at the border stunt, and Biden’s bizarre willingness to let millions of illegals rush into the US in the first year of his presidency alone.
But reality shows that there is a real cost to illegal immigration. Wages are driven down, especially for non-skilled workers, by the millions of extra workers that will accept any wage. Border communities suffer from crime waves brought by the cartels and their cargo. Already over-burdened welfare programs are pushed to the breaking point by the addition of millions of non-citizens to their rolls.
And, of course, criminals commit crimes. Sometimes those crimes are horrific.
Such was the case in Oregon, where an illegal immigrant that was already deported six times and should have been deported again took advantage of the sanctuary state’s defiance of federal law to stick around in America and murder three people. As Breitbart reports:
On June 27, 2016, illegal alien Bonifacio Oseguera-Gonzalez arrived at a housing unit where he had been living with fellow employees for a nearby blueberry farm.
While in the kitchen of the residence, Gonzalez fired a loaded gun at Edmundo Amando-Bajonero before shooting Refugio Modesto De La Cruz, Katie Gildersleeve, and Rigoberto Reyes-Mendoza.
Three of the four people Gonzalez shot at died, bleeding out on the floor because Oregon let a criminal stick around in the USA. One of them was killed after he chased her into the driveway, stabbing her to death.
Such are the wages of illegal immigration and being soft on criminals, especially illegal immigrants. Gonzalez was first deported in 2003, caught and deported again in 2007, arrested and deported in 2009, arrested and deported twice in 2010, and then deported a sixth and final time in 2013.
At some point after that final deportation, he returned to the US and stuck around in Oregon, a sanctuary state that bars police from cooperating with federal officials to deport illegals like Mr. Gonzalez.
Never was he dealt with for good. Nothing was done to retrain him or stop him, a known border crosser and lawbreaker, from returning to the US to prey on those within her. Had Oregon caught him before the triple-murder he wouldn’t have been deported because of its laws.
So, when Democrats and their insane allies on the far left defend and excuse illegal immigration, remember the costs of it. Not only are financial and law enforcement resources strained from having to deal with the problem, but crimes, many of which are horrific beyond belief, happen when you allow cartels to cart millions across the border.
