If you’re a Democrat and CNN is reporting something negative about you, then you know you’re doing a bad job, even if CNN only implies that what’s going wrong is your fault.
Though the pedo-afflicted network is trying to rebrand itself in the wake of a massive ratings drop and successive sex and pedophilia-related scandals, that’s still true; CNN, for now, at least, is a regime mouthpiece for the left.
Which made its recent report on gas prices in California. In the article, CNN claims:
“Gas in California hit a record high of $4.72 a gallon on average on Wednesday — and experts say a whopping $5 a gallon will likely be the norm there in a matter of months, if not sooner.
[…]”California is the proxy for what will happen with the energy transition,” said Tom Kloza, global head of energy analysis for the Oil Price Information Service, the firm that tracks gas data for AAA. “A number of refineries have closed permanently….Getting people away from fossil fuels might be the right thing to do, but it is not without pain.”
[…]The switch to renewables affects prices in another way: higher taxes.
California state gas taxes and fees are about 68 cents a gallon, compared to a national average of 39 cents, according to the American Petroleum Institute. California also levies taxes and carbon fees of roughly $1.35 a gallon on wholesale gasoline, a cost that gets passed on to consumers, Kloza said.”
While the article is mainly about renewables, something leftists love, it’s hard to read it without wondering why CNN is reporting on the issue in the first place, and, even if the article is there, why it’s titled “California gas prices just hit a record high. $5 gas could come soon” and not “Green Energy Plans Encourage Shift from Expensive Fossil Fuels.”
One must remember that, when it comes to media, open lies are rare but covering for one side by framing an issue one way or refusing to report on it is quite frequent. Just look at how much CNN and Co. have covered the Durham bombshell: zip.
So, what’s going on? It’s hard to tell for sure. Perhaps CNN is suddenly and forcefully ditching the leftist stance it is known for and is going back to being the news.
But, given that snowballs still melt when they go to hell, something else is probably at play. That “something” is leftists are gradually waking up to the fact that their policy prescriptions carry with them real costs and that the average American isn’t willing to accept those costs.
Though the average CNN writer or analyst might be willing to raise the gas tax to push people toward electric cars, the average American, the one paying that tax, isn’t.
So, by highlighting the issue before the pitchforks and torches make their first appearance, CNN can tug on the sleeve of its leftist overlords and force them to realize that their policies are vying with Joe Biden to see which can hit 10% approval first.
Again, that’s just speculation; perhaps CNN is going back to real news. But it’s more likely that the California gas story is a warning, not the first rumblings of a massive change in how the network handles news.
And, regardless, it’s utterly insane that gas prices are getting so high, even in California.
