Hillary Clinton’s nonprofit political group, Onward Together, is tapping into controversy by selling merchandise featuring the phrase “Hold Me in Contempt Until the Cows Come Home.” This slogan emerged during her testimony before the House Oversight Committee in February. Frustrated with questioning about her connections to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, Clinton asserted, “You can hold me in contempt from now until the cows come home.”
The timing of this merchandise launch is striking, following the committee’s recommendation to hold the Clintons in contempt for initially refusing to provide live testimony. Instead, they opted for written statements, which further fueled skepticism around their narratives. Eventually, both appeared before lawmakers, where Hillary denied any knowledge of Epstein’s criminal activities, claimed she never met him, and described Maxwell simply as a “casual acquaintance.” Such claims stood in stark contrast to information in Epstein’s files. Maxwell was known to have had significant involvement with the Clinton Global Initiative and even attended Chelsea Clinton’s wedding, while Bill Clinton has been photographed multiple times with Epstein in contexts that raise questions.
Onward Together, a 501(c)(4) organization formed by Clinton in 2017 after her election loss, seems to be using the Epstein allegations as a fundraising tool. By collaborating with left-leaning groups like Swing Left and Color of Change, the organization bills each merchandise purchase as a contribution to their causes. The new product line includes a $35 cap, a $55 crewneck sweatshirt, and a $32 t-shirt, all emblazoned with the now-infamous phrase.
The approach taken by Onward Together is alarming, especially given the grave implications of the Epstein situation. Marketing merchandise connected to such severe issues can be seen as a gross trivialization. The serious nature of the Epstein investigation, along with the Clintons’ documented history with him, makes this fundraising strategy appear tone-deaf at best.
