Rep. Lauren Boebert is not backing down from a public spat with President Donald Trump following his threat of a primary challenge against her. During an interview with NewsNation, Boebert pointed out a crucial detail: the candidate filing deadline in Colorado has already passed, making a primary challenge impossible. Her primary race has been settled and certified, leaving no room for last-minute contenders.

The tension between Boebert and Trump intensified after she endorsed and campaigned for Rep. Thomas Massie, who is facing a Trump-backed opponent. The ex-president took to Truth Social, questioning Boebert’s integrity and labeling her as “weak-minded.” He stated, “Is anyone interested in running against Weak Minded Lauren Boebert in Colorado’s Fourth Congressional District?” He even accused her of being a “carpetbagger” for moving districts to secure her congressional seat.

Trump’s fiery rhetoric did not end there. He criticized Boebert for supporting Massie, whom he described as “the Worst ‘Republican’ Congressman in the History of our Country,” asserting that anyone who aligns with someone so foolish deserves a primary challenge. Yet, despite the harsh words, Boebert remained composed, explaining on air that her primary situation is firmly in place: “There is no time for a write-in candidate.” She is poised to face a Democrat in the general election, as her opponent is also unchallenged in their primary.

With the Colorado Republican primary for the 4th District scheduled for June 30, Boebert stands unopposed. The Secretary of State has already certified ballots, which have been distributed to overseas voters. While write-in candidates can still emerge for the November general election, they cannot participate in the primary at this stage. This detail underlines her secure standing in the current race.

In her own words, Boebert expressed her lack of concern over Trump’s comments. In a response shared on X, she stated, “No, I’m not mad or offended. I knew the risks when I agreed to stand by my friend Thomas Massie.” She concluded strongly, asserting, “I was, and will be, America First, America Always, and MAGA. Onward.” This sentiment reflects her commitment to her principles and alliances despite the challenges she faces from prominent figures like Trump.

The episode highlights the ongoing tensions within the Republican Party, particularly as loyalty and endorsements come under scrutiny. As Boebert navigates this political landscape, her steadfastness and clarity about her electoral status suggest that she is ready to confront whatever comes next. With the primary settlement behind her, the focus now shifts to the general election, where Boebert will need every bit of support as she prepares to face her Democratic opponent.
