The Supreme Court has been attempting to increase pressure on those who might have leaked its Dobbs decision, a decision that would overrule the Casey and Roe precedents and return the issue of abortion to the states, where governors, legislatures, and voters can decide it as they see hit rather than relying on nine black robed justices telling them how to live their lives.
But still, despite that increased pressure, it’s not yet known who the leaker was or what their motivations were. It’s likely that a leftist SCOTUS clerk leaked it to try to pressure the court into changing its mind in the face of massive public opinion, but that’s as yet unknown.
Well, in an interview with Newsmax, Montana GOP Rep. Matt Rosendale dropped a major hint on who the leaker might have been and argued that some of the justices likely know who the leaker is and should come forward with that information, saying:
“We all could probably agree that the justices that were appointed by Democrat presidents know who the leaker was.
“What bothers me, it’s not only the undermining that it did of the institution and the trust factor that these folks have with each other, it’s that now that the trust is broken, it’s very difficult to restore it.
“There could be more people involved, and those people could go all the way to the top.
“Don’t eliminate the judges because you know people, so there’s no way that would happen. No way. Think about it. Michael Sussmann is on trial right now for Russiagate. That happened six years ago. We’re only getting answers right now. I hope it doesn’t take another six years to get answers to what happened at the Supreme Court.”
In other words, Rosendale is suggesting that the leaker was someone very close to the leftist SCOTUS justices, someone who has their confidence and might even have been acting on one of their (cough, Sotomayor the “wise latina”, cough), which is why he brought up Sussmann, who was working in conjunction with the Clinton campaign when he helped start the Russia hoax.
Perhaps the court’s “unprecedented” actions taken to find the leaker will pay off.
As a reminder, sources recently told CNN that “Supreme Court officials are escalating their search for the source of the leaked draft opinion that would overturn Roe v. Wade, taking steps to require law clerks to provide cell phone records and sign affidavits.”
The same CNN report added that “Some clerks are apparently so alarmed over the moves, particularly the sudden requests for private cell data, that they have begun exploring whether to hire outside counsel.”
Though the left’s likely leak of the Dobbs opinion was a shocking breach of trust and hit to the court’s legitimacy, it’s not particularly surprising, as Alito tore their abortion shibboleths to shreds in the opinion, saying, for example:
“We hold that Roe and Casey must be overruled.
The Constitution makes no reference to abortion, and no such right is implicitly protected by any constitutional provision…”
“Roe was egregiously wrong form the start. Its reasoning was exceptionally weak, and the decision has had damaging consequences. And far from bringing about a national settlement of the abortion issue, Roe and Casey have enflamed debate and deepend division. It is time to heed the Constitution and return the issue of abortion to the people’s elected representatives.”
So, predictably, the left went berserk when it was leaked. Luckily, it seems that the court hasn’t backed down because of the pressure, pressure that included an assassination attempt on Justice Kavanaugh, but we won’t know for sure until the opinion is released in full. Either way, the leaker must be caught.
